How old is your LO? we had the awful 4:30 wake ups around 10/11 months until 13 months when we finally eased her schedule into a 1 nap day. She still wakes up early at 6am but at least it's not the 4 o'clock hour! It felt like insanity at the time though! She would wake that early and be ready for nap #1 by 7:30 or 8!

Have you tried pushing bedtime back a bit? Maybe try 8 instead of 7 and see what happens?

@rahlyrah: ugh. I've been going through this for a couple weeks. Waking up at 5 and not going back to sleep. My usual rule is we do not get up until 6am so I do not go into his room until then.

Since he's been sick I go in and feed him and then try to get him back to sleep, but it hasn't been working very well and I'm exhausted! (Can't imagine what you're going through with insomnia) :(

Once we are over this cold we will be doing some sleep training.

@rahlyrah: it could be! I know sometimes I go through phases were I don't really wanna snuggle with DH, and sometimes I'm more needy..I think they do the same. some days O is attached to my hip, other days if I touch her she tantrums! lol.

@Foodnerd81: I hope it goes back to normal soon! We do have blackout shades so I'm not sure why he is waking.

@sorrycharlie: I think he is going through a clingy phase. He would only nap on me all week, too. I wonder if it's because DH is out of town?

@rahlyrah: c is the same way. I'd get her settles then try to scoot back a tiny bit for my breathing room for myself, then she would scoot over to me, repeat until I'm at the very edge of the bed. By then I couldn't even just get out of bed and move to her other side because she would be dangerously close to the edge without my body there to stop her.

I agree though at least it's rest.

I also meant to say C will have a couple of days in a row when she gets up super early, then go back to 6:30 or 7, with no rhyme or reason. You have blackout shades so the morning sun isn't waking him? We do and her room is pitch black.

We used to do the same thing. I'm all about what gives me the most sleep. If that means cosleeping, so be it.

DS did grow out of early morning wake ups after he was one.

@Foodnerd81: I haven't been able to fall asleep but at least I am able to lay in bed and rest. I think I just need to get used to it because he sleeps all. up. on. me.

W do the same thing sometimes. Good or bad habits aside, you need your rest. Are you able to sleep with him in the bed with you? I know it's harder for me to fall back asleep that way- but still way better than getting up that early!!

Well I think it sounds better than getting 1.5 hours of sleep!!!

E started waking at 430 this week but she's hungry after being sick :( I usually just leave her to play in her crib for a bit....

B has consistently slept 7-7 for months. This week, he started waking up at 4:30/5:00 and refusing to go back to sleep in his crib. It is killing me. My insomnia has been out of control and with this new wake time I'm getting very little sleep. Two nights ago I got a whopping 1.5 hours!

Out of desperation, I started bringing him into my bed and he will actually go back to sleep. This morning he was up at 4:30, I brought him into my bed, and he went back go sleep until 6. Then we laid in bed and cuddled until 6:30.

We have never coslept prior to this week and, while I enjoy the snuggles, I don't know that I want to make a habit out if it. However, if the alternative is starting our day at 4:30 then I'll take cosleeping any day!

Any other tips for getting him to sleep later? I don't understand the sudden 2 hour difference!
