Our older daughter has had her ears pierced for two years now and we lost a lot of earrings the first year. The screwbacks for babies bought at places like piercing pagoda suck, so don't buy those. We had a pair of 22k gold screwbacks that were gifts from my inlaws that were from a real jewelry shop and those stayed in, but they stayed in so well (for about a year), that when I finally wanted to remove them, I couldn't unscrew them and eventually, I had to take them to but cut off. Our daughter didn't mind--they just gave her a lollipop and she sat still while theysnipped the back off. But now we have a piece of solid 22k gold that we'd have to take a a jeweler to be remelted or something.

So what we've done the past 6 months or so is go with super cheap, silver earrings that I randomly picked up from Old Navy. They have regular backs, and I just push the back back on every night when LO is in the bath, and now she's been wearing the same pair for a long time. I think as long as you make a habit of tightening the back once a day or every few days, the earrings will stay on.

What about trying some hoops that don't have a post in the back? Like these - http://www.jared.com/en/jaredstore/r6-earrings-101527--1/hoop-earrings-14k-yellow-gold-392845804--1

I wonder if it's possible that the second hole is larger than the first.

If it's just causing you frustration why not just take the earrings out and get her ears pierced again in the future if she asks for it?

We had my DD's ears pierced about 8 weeks ago. Ever since we got them done we have had tons of issues with the back falling off/earring falling out. It always seems to be the same ear that is an issue. We were getting frusterated, we have already lost one earring and a couple of backs, so we bought screw backs instead. Well today during bath time I noticed that the screw back has fallen off! It's the same ear again!!

Has anyone had this happen? Is there a reason it is only one ear and not the other.

And I have literally NEVER seen her touch them except for the first day and occasionally when we clean them, other than that she seems unaware of them.
