@Mrsbells: I think the mouthpiece is a little flatter and wider and I guess the issue lots of people had with the Striker is that the straw would disconnect a lot from the lid? I don't know. I just know the Gizmo is the newer one (I only found out because I couldn't tell the difference on Amazon so I Googled it).

@gingerbebe: oh cool is there a big difference?

At that age, we used the Tommee Tippee straw cups. My son could not manage any cup that required hard suction and those were easy for him to use. Then we used Zoomi cups for a while. Now we use the upgraded version of the Contigo @Mrsbells: recommended - the Contigo Gizmo Flip. http://a.co/eafZ3Ds

We transitioned to a Nuk cup. It's a hybrid between a bottle nipple and sippy.

@travellingbee: This contigo water bottle is great, it has a spout like a sippy cup and never leaks

He is currently on bottles but we need to start transitioning to cups as he is approaching the one year. He can drink out of a straw better than a sippy, but I hate cleaning the straws... They always seem to collect funk... Any suggestions?
