@bhbee:

Ok it is actually “big bubbles” not giant bubbles. Lol. They are not huge but big enough to produce awe and excitement if your kids are used to normal bubble sizes.

I have four kids so this big pack works well for us.
Some wands made big bubbles, some make a bunch of smaller ones, and some make bubble clusters.

I linked the bubbles kit and the bubble solution (the big bubbles kit doesn’t come with the bubble solution).

We had a great Easter and busy weekend!
Saturday we went to an Easter egg hunt, dyed our Eggs, and made Easter sugar cookies. Our kids were so excited for the Easter bunny they wanted to go to bed early.

We hid plastic eggs around the house for the kids to find Sunday morning. Both got jelly beans in the eggs, plus some candy and silly string in their baskets. DS got a bug catcher kit and baseball. DD got a basket for her bike, and both got pool toys.

Sunday morning we had Easter mass followed by an egg hunt and dinner at my parents.

@bhbee: We do that with Hawaiian rolls. You can just cut the whole pack in half and layer the ham and cheese and brush the top with butter and bake. So good!

@erinbaderin: ham sliders are my favorite use for leftovers! Great for a night you don’t want to cook and can pull some out of the freezer, or for a get together. Cut a roll in half, add a piece of ham, piece of Swiss, brush with a mustard/butter mix and bake until warm.

@mrs.kiwi: do you have a link for giant bubbles? That sounds fun!

The flu has been slow rolling through our house since last weekend - DH is the last one standing. I feel like it going around in April has been worse than others times we’ve had it - maybe because fall shots have worn off.

So we missed our usual home egg hunt and church and special meals and just hung around, but hoping to still do the egg hunt once everyone is up to it. I did get them to do some bluebonnet photos (Texas tradition) Saturday morning when we had a break in anyone being feverish.

We were supposed to host my parents and my brother and his girlfriend, but on Thursday my 8 year old woke up with a sore throat and a fever. We tested him and it was negative but just in case, we pushed dinner to next week.

However we’d already ordered a dinner from Farm Boy (kind of a Canadian one-step-down Whole Foods) that was supposed to serve 6-8, assuming those 8 are a high school football team. We ate dinner on Saturday and did not make even a dent in the ham. We have a truly unfathomable amount of ham left, so we stashed a lot in the freezer and will thaw some next weekend for the rescheduled dinner.

Our actual Easter morning was nice, I try to minimize how much candy the kids get by doing stuff in the baskets, so they each got a small Lego kit, a little seed-planting pot, some Pokémon stuff, and then my 6 year old got a gardening set and my 8 year old got an attachment for the slack line. But then I undid it all by hiding a ton of candy in eggs. Then we went to the zoo. A nice day!

Ours was great! My DD (just turned 3 years old) got pretty hyper, but did fairly well for dinner with the relatives. She absolutely loved doing the egg hunt and playing with the new dinosaurs from her basket. She was also so excited to see that the Easter Bunny ate the carrot she left for him. It's so fun to see her really getting into it all now that she's old enough to understand more.

Did you all have a good Easter!?

The kids had sooo much fun with the giant bubbles kit that were in their baskets. It was pure joy and wonder in the backyard for a good 30 minutes.

My youngest (1.5) wasn’t into his basket at all. Oh well.

I ended up making little Easter egg goody bags for the toddlers at church, so that was fun to give out.

This was unplanned but DH made a yummy omelette brunch/lunch.

The bunny hides the coloured eggs and some plastic eggs around the house. I think this year he may hide them in the basement so my early riser doesn’t get to them all first!

Their baskets are mainly treats. The two big boys are each getting a small Lego set and the newborn is getting a couple baby toys. They are each getting a puzzle and a couple small toys as well.

We already had our Easter dinner early, so we will just be relaxing and DH will be cooking dinner.

I'm pretty excited for Easter this year. DD just turned 3, so it's the first year she's getting into egg hunts and the Easter Bunny. We are traveling to my parents house for the weekend to visit with them and my Grandparents for dinner on Easter. I'm going to do an indoor egg hunt for the first time for my daughter, we're in northern Minnesota and still have snow here. I'm just going to put a few M&Ms in each egg. In her basket she's getting a couple books, candy, a small Little People set, a cheap puzzle, and a couple dinosaur figurines.

Fun!

We do a plastic egg hunt outside (or inside if raining). I don’t fill with candy though- they are filled with objects that tell the Biblical story of Easter. They have been getting plenty of candy filled eggs each year from different egg hunts/activities with friends.

They’ve been getting Easter baskets from family/friends so I keep ours smaller.

Last year I put new dot markers in each of their baskets (I split a big set between the three of them). This year I got a big bubbles kit from lakeshore and split it amongst the four of them (now that my youngest is old enough to have his own basket).

We go to our church service (we currently have an afternoon service).

I’d like to do an Easter dinner or brunch with family eventually but we haven’t been able to swing it the past few years!

I actually didn’t really celebrate Easter growing up so it’s fun to have new traditions for the kids without the pressure/obligation from extended family!

We will go to Easter vigil Mass tomorrow evening. I always get the kids matching outfits, I can't help myself. This year I got the boys white button down shirts with bow ties, and DD a matching hair bow and white dress  The bow ties/bows are from Boon ties are are so cute!

Sunday morning the Easter bunny hides small chocolate eggs around (one room) of our house. It was my favorite part of Easter growing up :)

In their baskets they have a book, a summer hat, candy (obviously--this is as much for my benefit as it is their's), a summer toy (think baseball, frisbee, etc). Usually we also do swimwear but we just got back from FL and they all just got new stuff!

After we do Easter bunny things here we will head to my mom and dad's for brunch, along with my brother and SIL. My mom always puts together a fun outdoor plastic egg hunt AND a scavenger hunt for the kids. They talk about it all year long!

We just got a blizzard and tons of snow, so we will be taking our sleds and my brother is bringing his snowmobile. And we'll dye eggs once we all come in to warm up!

@Corduroy: I put packing tape on the inside of our eggs to cover the holes! Mainly I do it so that crumbs of the loose food can't spill, but it also limits things getting inside if you hide them outside.

We generally do out egg hunt inside but when I hide the eggs I make a list in my phone off all the hiding spots so we can't forget any.

@Corduroy @Mommy Finger: we do a mix of plastic and dyed eggs hidden outside, but DH goes and hides them while I get the kids dressed, so they’re only out there for maybe 30 minutes max. I suspect our days of being able to do this are numbered as our kids get older though….

We'll have small Easter baskets for the kids and do an egg hunt. My favorite tradition from growing up is having the kids hide their emptied eggs for the grownups. And trading egg hunts back and forth.

@Mommy Finger: 🤢 what a story! We hide the fake eggs outside but now that they all have holes bugs get in there so fast, even with wrapped candy. Nothing like pulling slugs off your candy wrapper.

@LadyDi: We grew up hiding the dyed eggs around the house for our egg hunt and then we'd still eat the eggs later. I'm so grossed out by that now! And there'd always be one egg we can't find, which would lead my parents in a panic as we had one year where that egg rotted (obviously) and basically exploded in our armoire and ruined some family pictures! So yeah, we go with the plastic eggs filled with candy route now and the dyed eggs stay in the fridge until consumption.

@LadyDi: The Easter Bunny always hid our dyed eggs around the house growing up so that is what we do for our boys. My DH also questioned it at first lol

We are celebrating at home by ourselves this year. Making cinnamon roll french toast casserole, eggs and bacon for breakfast. Family is hosting a lunch and egg hunt about 1.5 hours away but DS has a flag football game at 3:30 and he is loving it so we are making that a priority this year. I am looking forward to a quiet day with just us honestly.

We’re back to the Easter shuffle - so we’ll do DD’s basket and an egg hunt at home when we get up, head to my in laws from 10-2ish for a big lunch, stop by my dad and step mom’s house for a quick visit, and then go to my mom and step dad’s for dinner. Honestly, holidays are the only days I miss living away from our families 🤪 I mean, I love seeing them all but it was kind of easier to just do our own thing and not spend a good portion of the day driving.

We always go overboard with DD’s basket because that’s how we both grew up. This year her basket has a paint by sticker book, crossword book, word search book, Pokémon deluxe handbook, nail polish, jump ropes, pinwheel, a water bottle, a movie, and some treats. We have Annie’s bunnies, peanut butter m&ms, jelly beans, York peppermint patties, and quarters to put in the eggs we hide.

DS (5) is getting legos, pokemon pack and an Elephant and Piggie book, and DS (7) is getting a board game, pokemon pack and the latest Cat Kid book.

We're hosting my parents and my in-laws for brunch. We're doing ham, mac and cheese, a quiche, salad, paska bread, and dessert. We'll do a small egg hunt for the boys as long as the weather is ok and DH hides our dyed eggs around the house for Easter morning (this grosses me out and not something we did as a kid, but it's his thing).

The boys are 6.5, 4 and 2.5 and I tried to make their baskets similar. A little bit of candy, new swimsuits, new beach towel, new straw cups, a silly easter toy (bunny finger puppets for one, a bunny that pops balls out of its butt for another, an easter squishy), and a nicer toy for each of them (a new train car for two of them and a small robot to build for my oldest).

Easter is my favorite holiday, we usually host but it's always so much more relaxed than traveling all over the place for Thanksgiving or the crush of presents at Christmas. If you celebrate the holiday, what are you doing? What are you cooking? What's in your baskets?
