She is also super cautious. It's similar to our approach with Halloween. LO1 understands his allergies and always questions food before eating. They happened to have allergy friendly bags which was awesome. The other one we just gave her a heads up ahead of time that she wouldn't be able to eat any of the candy in the eggs until after we were home but that I was bringing some safe treats for her so we could trade each other. He didn't understand there was stuff inside (or really the whole picking up thing) until last year when he was 3. At that point he was old enough and had heard enough of "that has x it will hurt your tummy". He let us inspect and toss. At almost 4 he has an idea of his allergies now and even asked the other day if something had soy in it. </p> <p>It gets better. Could you do special eggs that he can find that are just for him (like everyone looks for their "color")? </p> <p>How old is your lo? I have some friends who have trained their kids to understand that they have allergies and can't always have what is immediately in front of them. I think we will skip the big city one and just go to one at a friend's house and bring our own eggs to swap out with his after he finds them. </p>
