@looch: @alphagam84: I found this and you can make a nose too to complete the set! I think it is very doable (until I have to start preparing 13 sets + do a few samples :silly: ) ...

https://www.thesuburbanmom.com/2015/04/02/paper-plate-easter-bunny-ears/

I dug more and found this, which seems pretty easy too! We eat a ton of eggs and I can collect a lot of egg cartons easily. I am guessing I'll do either the paper plate bunny hat set of this (egg carton hens):

You could do "pin the tail on the bunny" using cotton balls and have the surface be velcro or use tape on the cotton ball. Or have them make some Easter hats.

@Anagram: WOW! Oh my gosh, while it look super fun, I think I'd 200 times stressed and I'd rather buy a gold egg for each of them lol. No me and science are not friends. And besides I think they expect my part to be 5-10 minutes tops... it is more like a time filler lol. I'd definitely come to your party and learn how to make goo! Kudos to you!!!!

ETA: And good point about no competition / hurt feelings!!! No competition that is.

@irene: I would stay away from competitive tasks and prizes, if this is a party setting. I think an activity where each kid feels good and has learned/reinforced a skill at the end of it is key.

@irene: I just did a volunteer lesson in my daughter's class on Valentine's Day (rechristened "Friendship day" ). They are all in pre-k 4. I had an hour, so I did story time with a book about friendship, then some songs that have good finger plays/movements, then we made Valentine's slime (I brought all the supplies). The recipe is only 3 ingredients and each kid got to make their own--the Valentine's tie in was tiny heart glitter that they mixed in. While I demo'd the slime recipe, I explained a tiny bit about how glue is a liquid polymer and baking soda and saline change the properties from liquid to solid and make slime. Each kid got to take their slime home in little containers I bought on amazon.

You could do a STEM type of activity like that? It was super easy and thr kids loved it.

I'm also a teacher for a living (well school librarian now, but I still also teach), so this is my thing, but I think anyone could do it.

The bunny ear paper plate hat is NOT BAD AT ALL!!!! I can do this, no glue just scissors, pink markers and a ton of paper plates. What do you all think?!

Thank you all for your feedback!!!

@gingerbebe: @erinbaderin: @Silva: @Mamaof2: OKOK, I won't do the prize then. Hahaha! Just a bummer because I do have 5 beautiful easter pop up books and I know kids will appreciate it, just that I only have 5 and don't have 13, and it is kinda pricey to buy 7 more. I guess I'd continue to hold onto these 5 books....

Crafts: I am not really into pre-made craft kits (it is purely me and my weirdness). I also don't care for the zillions of little crafts DS made at parties and bringing it home-- I accumulated a ton of them, I don't want to keep them but I feel bad throwing them out. That's why I prefer games much more than crafts. That's just me.... but sounds like most moms (ie. you lovely ladies) prefer crafts...

For me, I either don't do crafts, or if i do it I'd go all out DIY (back to the point I am funny about pre-made crafts. I know, I am really weird). One year we had DS's birthday party at home and I had a craft that is based on an easter bunny hat (http://thehousethatlarsbuilt.com/2015/03/diy-bunny-party-hats.html/ if you cared to look) . I preprinted all the templates, cut them out, punched out all the eyes, noses, and ears (so the kids only glue on the eyes, draw the mouth and tape on the ears. not very smart on my part) , grrrrrr, it was so much work! I threw all of those extra hat templates away out of anger after the party LOL. Had I kept them and I'd be half way done! RE @Ajsmommy: that's why I don't want to go that route again lol

Gah now I don't know what to do....

I also thought about asking the kids to make "something" (eg. a toy car, or stuff an egg with things), and then have the kids compete rolling them down a track and see who is faster. But then that's too many variables - ie. I'd be stressing out to make the track.

Yeah, I don't see why a prize is necessary - they're going to have all sorts of candy and treats anyway.

If you want an activity that really doesn't require STUFF to prep, you can do a song with motions. You teach the kids a song with the motions and they get their wiggles out like that.

Especially at the end of the day, at the end of a party, when little kiddos emotions are high and they are tired, I wouldn't do prizes unless everyone gets one. I think its just asking for a meltdown.
But maybe thats because I have a sensitive kid who would be sad about it.

In my son's class, they pretty much always do the same craft/activity - its some variation of a headband they wear while eating their Easter party food, or they make placemats to put their plates on top of while they eat. So basically its stuff they can do quickly, wear/use right away to be festive, that isn't in the way when its time to eat.

So I'd do something like a bunny headband or easter egg headband they can decorate with stickers or egg cut outs or bunny ears on a strip of paper or foam and then the adult just staples it according to the kid's head circumference and slaps it on their head. Same would apply to the placemats - just pieces of cardstock or construction paper - you can even have them laminated in advance if you want them to be able to take them home - and then have them put stickers on it.

In a class of 13, I'd be uncomfortable giving out five prizes - that's more than 1/3 of the kids who get a prize, and the remainder would feel left out.

@irene: I hope you find something that works. Get 2 packs, you will need it. One for the teacher, one for the sample to show the kids the finished product, plus the school admin. I am sure they'd find it super sweet to get something from the class.

I did a craft in my son's class and I thought it was easy enough but there were 20 kids of all levels and some struggled with it. So now, I am always looking for something that the least coordinated kid can do unassisted, and that's usually these foam kits.

The kids loved a bean bag toss at our kinder valentines party. Maybe you could do plastic eggs (fill with something and tape shut if they need weight) and toss into Easter baskets or buckets? Thinking of things you might already own ... I think they would like it prizes or no, kids love throwing :silly:

They also liked tic tac toe which was just sheets our room mom printed and foam shapes.

@looch: @irene: On that link I think the easter bunny wreaths, color-your-own easter crown, or easter headband kits are adorable. I like that all the kids get to make something and bring it home, vs. playing a game where only some kids get a prize.

*I think if you click the link through here it brings up a search page, but if you copy/paste it in a new window, it brings up the easter bunny wreath.

This is not specific to the theme, but my experience with crafts in a classroom at this age is that your best bet is something that the kids assemble. No painting, no cutting, no glue. Peel and stick foam kits from Oriental Trading are your friend.

You guys always have great ideas so thought I'd pick your brains!

DS is in kindergarten. I signed up to help with the Easter classroom party and my responsibility is to come up with a game/activity.

An activity can be a game or a craft activity, or anything smart (and easy). I want to do something super easy that I don't need to buy a lot of gear or prep for days for 15 sets of crafts.... if I don't have to  . Also the teacher doesn't like the idea of "gift bags for everyone". She said a prize would be ok if needed - I imagine if someone won in an activity they'd get a price. I have 5 Easter pop-up books that I can give out, so I am leaning toward an easy game, and giving out the 5 books at the end (There are 13 kids in the class though... I can get extra knick knacks if I have to - thoughts?) . DS told me at Valentine's day party they did Bingo, which is easy and simple and great.

I was googling for ideas, and something like this egg toss game would be ok, but then the logic of how the prizes are going to be given out would be a problem:
https://www.amazon.com/Easter-Egg-Ring-Toss-Game/dp/B005DS65QC/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1519739662&sr=8-8&keywords=egg+toss+game

Any Easter craft ideas would be lovely too. In general I want to stay away from something messy or something that requires everyone to be dancing and running and such, as I don't want to trouble them to move tables and chairs away ...etc. And they would have already had an egg hunt earlier in the day.

I can't believe I am stressing out about this... haha. Any other ideas would be lovely!
