@PrincessBaby: That's a wonderful idea! I always forget about hard boiled eggs

My biggest hurdle is replacing quinoa - that was my go-to easy dinner

@PrincessBaby: That is a great idea! I know my habit is to have the best of intentions, but in failing to plan, find myself making bad choices. I don't want to do that this time. Boiled eggs with just a sprinkle of sea salt = yummmmm!

@blackbird: I am at that point now. We are now on the other side of LO not sleeping at night and her surgery . . . And now that she *is* feeling better and starting to sleep at night, I feel like all of my *excuses* for not reclaiming myself are disappearing. But that's a good thing. I had to remind myself that I am responsible for me and my happiness, and my happiness means getting back into my jeans!

What about omelettes? I had chicken and veggies diced up in a couple of eggs for lunch today with a little bit of soy sauce (which i know isn't paleo but i haven't bought liquid aminos)

eta: i do think there comes a point where you are willing to give up most anything to look and feel like yourself again :) Remind yoruself it's temporary!

@MsLipGloss: this is not genius advice or anything, but I would boil a bunch of eggs to keep on hand for snacks. There are not a lot of quick snack options other than like bananas and almond butter...When I was working and had to bring a cooler with me for pumping anyway, I just threw some boiled eggs on a ziplock and put in my cooler. It really helped to have *something* on hand when I was starved!!!

@swurlygurl: It's day one today . . . so far so good! :P I just have to plan it out and be ready for the weekend. Problems usually arise for me if I don't have a plan and find myself beyond hungry. So, as long as I have a general idea of what my options are, hopefully I will do well.

@MsLipGloss: How's it going? I tried to be strictly Paleo 2 weeks ago, but it only lasted until the weekend came - that's always what trips me up. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what to do for dinners that's easy. :/

@looch: i like to think of myself as "primal" because i enjoy raw cheese and organic full fat yogurt. To answer your question about eggs, whole eggs are great on paleo and if you are going to drink almond milk, try to find one without added sugars and random ingredients.

Also my biggest thing is do what works for you and your gut. If you can have something and not have a reaction then eat it :)

Thanks for all the great suggestions! Now that we have completed our move, I am ready to do it to it!

Today is Day 1 . . . I am already ready for it to be over (I met DH for lunch, and all I wanted to do was eat a sandwich with cheese. But I didn't!).

I guess it all really comes down to this . . . not feeling like myself due to extra pg weight is hard and not eating junk (I am a sugarholic!) is hard. All I need to do now is pick my *hard*, and take it one decision at a time.

I can never go full paleo because i love my dairy too much, but I am also in the process of moving and will be starting the pantry/fridge from scratch, so we're not moving or buying anything processed (for now).

I am curious about eggs, though. Whole eggs okay, or do I need to do more whites than yolks? And what about something like almond or rice milk? I don't drink milk too much, just in my coffee and sometimes in cereal, but I'd like some shelf stable alternatives.

Processed foods! That was the first step for me! Pasta & rice was next but I still had it once a wk? I lost 20 lbs in less than 3 mths.

Eggs & meat for bfast, salad w protein at lunch, and lettuce wraps w protein + veggies is an ideal day for me w nuts or fruit as snacks!

Need to get back! I've been slacking! And aside from weight loss u notice a huge bloat diff when paleoing! Id eat wayyy more than ny norm and at day's end still have a fairly flat tummy! Tjat was the win for me! And my supply nvr suffered!

When I went paleo-ish, my main goal was just to always choose the option made with the most whole foods, and to stay away from wheat. I would still eat corn, rice and other carbs on occasion - wheat was the big one I cut out. I think taking that step alone is a good way to lean into it! I know others have started with eliminating sugar, as well, and only eating things with natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup.

I don't follow paleo but love their recipes because I'm always trying to boost more veggies and avoid unprocessed. A simple rule we've followed is if I don't recognize an ingredient or know where to get it myself, it doesn't get put in the cart. There are a bunch of free e-books today if any of them would help! http://moneysavingmom.com/2013/05/free-ebooks-81-ways-to-save-money-how-to-be-gluten-free-paleo-desserts-how-to-cook-healthy-in-a-hurry-plus-more.html

I've been eating paleo 3.5 years and love it. Like pp suggested I would stop buying non-paleo things now and work through your pantry if you want to take it slowly.

Start exploring new meats and veggies while you transition so you don't get bored. A lot of paleo recipes have expensive ingredients to replace standard ingredients but I've been much happier eating simply prepared foods: grilled or roasted meat with roasted, steamed, or raw veggie. Meals take almost no time that way.

Paleo has a big emphasis on low sugar but I found I needed lots of sugar when I transitioned. I wouldn't have survived without banana nut muffins (made with almond flour) and Lara Bars. After about two weeks I didn't need them anymore because I figured out how much protein and fat I needed to eat (lots!).

I would slowly get rid of the processed foods, I threw mine out, but you could just finish eating it. Don't buy any new stuff once the stuff you had is gone. And like Brownie said, start adding more veggies and protein to your meals, as well as good fats. Once you get rid of carbs, you will get your energy from those fats.

It's time for me to get serious about getting the rest of my pg weight off. *lesigh* For those of you who went the Paleo route (or modified Paleo route), what are some easy switches/changes I can make to start down the Paleo road? I don't want to do a complete overhaul right away, but say, if I wanted to do a transition over the course of the next two weeks?
