I have nothing to help, but I'm in the same place. I was blindsided by teething because my happy baby turned into someone I don't even know!

@birdofafeather: Poor girl! Does she have any teeth yet? I don't have much to add, except hope you both hang in there and R goes back to her regular, sweet self again soon. I'd probably give a little Tylenol if it seems like pain. P.S. Can't believe how tall she looks sitting up in the crib now!

@birdofafeather: Aww...poor R! D has been a bit of a handful the past couple of days, too. His 2 bottom teeth are popping through, and I think he's on the verge of mastering some new skill. Every now and then he'll push himself up and get up on his knees, but then his arms give out and he's kind of stuck on his face with his butt up, and that pisses him off. For the teething, he really likes when we give him an ice cube in the mesh feeder thingie - he goes nuts on it and it does help to calm him down a lot.

Good luck, mama!

Teething plus learning new things. When DS first learned to get up on all 4s he would cry at night because once up, he didn't know how to get back down; he did the same thing when he first started rolling back to front.

When my LO was getting his molars and canines he would have screaming fits that lasted 20+ minutes where he was inconsolable and he wouldn't let me go near him. Thankfully they never affected his sleep. He was constantly putting his fingers in his mouth, he had neon red cheeks, drooling lots, eating little, and he had a runny nose. The best thing that worked for us was Camilia. Within 10 minutes he was a totally different baby.

I would drop your crib if she's sitting up! Sounds like teething to me, my LO has a runny nose each time a tooth is cutting. For us, if he is screaming after all his needs are met and we don't think it's just because he's fighting his nap, we give ibuprofen. Hope she is back to normal soon!

When LO started pulling up and cruising, we went through about a week of sleep regression . . . she would basically cruise the perimeter of her crib while crying/screaming. She never cried more than 30 minutes total before finally laying down, but man, it was a rough week.

@2PeasinaPod: she sucks on her hand all the time, so that's nothing new, but the constant screaming and unhappiness is! it's actually one of her sleep cues to me, so i know she's exhausted and she does cry before sleep sometimes, but not bloody murder. i think the combination of all these things is driving her mad.

@cascademom: i just texted DH the photo and said the same thing! she's never sat up like that so i was pretty shocked when i checked in on her!

@birdofafeather: Yep, new skills plus teeth make for a super cranky baby. Looks like you're going to have to drop the crib soon! We've got teething and lots of assisted walking going on right now. My LO is a lovable beast right now. At least he was happy this morning when I fed him.

@birdofafeather: Yes to that too! Once LO knew how to pull to standing, it's all he wanted to do in the crib. Almost as if he was showing off his new skill to himself!

But...her hand in her mouth may be another sign if she doesn't always do that. My LO rams his fist into his mouth and pulls constantly at his ears when it's a particularly bad teething day. That's when I know to reach for the Tylenol since he usually will just whine if he's in a little pain.

My guy is usually very easy going, but there are times where he was really tough to deal with. My hardest months were 5 months and 10 months, on and off through the month it seemed like nothing I did made him happy. Just remember, this does pass and you will get your little darling back again soon!

After trying everything else, I would give motrin. It definitely sounds like it could be teething and a dose of medicine isn't going to hurt her. Our pediatrician recommended motrin over tylenol for teething pain.

Hang in there mama...have you thought about giving even a half dose of Tylenol to see if it helps during a particularly bad spell?
