@livsmama- gotcha. That's a really interesting way to start. I wonder if it would have helped my LO transition. I really have to get better at letting her try to eat things on her own. She's getting there though, I just have to get used to cleaning up all of the food she stores at her sides and on the ground!

My LO is 10 1/2 months, I just feed her a little bit of what I'm eating. Usually she'll pick through and eat what she wants out of it. Like I made turkey burgers and gave her burger, bun, tomatoes, and cheese. She pretty much just ate tomato for her whole meal. I don't worry too much about it though, she still gets her nutrients from her bottle.

@BabyLove: BLW is Baby-Led Weaning. Basically- you skip purees and give them "real" food from the time they start solids (for liv it was at 6.5 months) and let them feed themselves instead of forcing purees into their mouth. I was all set with my Beaba Babycook and recipes. I made one batch of carrots and she looked horrified that Id put something so gross in her mouth. Gave it a break and tried again with a few other things, and she was disgusted. Im big into textures, so I thought maybe shes the same way, so I gave her something at the time (maybe a super steamed carrot?) and she freaking loved it. So we went that route =o)

Thanks! I've actually been fairly successful with things like turkey and cheese sandwiches. It seems if I feed her directly from my plate, with my hands, she's more inclined to eat it. But if it's on a spoon she is bored of it. Idk, we'll try all of these things and see what happens.

@livsmama- what is BLW? I agree that not making separate meals makes you more conscious of what you're making thus making the whole family healthier. It's been good for us too :)

we just give Liv what we are eating usually. We went BLW with her, so shes been on table food since she was 6.5 months, but then it was modified. Now, she gets a small serving of what we have. No separate meals, and forces us to eat healthier. And I second what @mrs. wagon: said. Melt some cheese on just about anything and my kid will eat it lol.

i try to get olive to eat a lot of protein to fatten her up. she loves chicken! i add garlic or herbs to give it more flavoring. eggs are also great too -- scrambled or hard boiled.

porridge is also a great, easy way to sneak in all kinds of veggies and meat. olive and charlie looooooove porridge. i make it with either chicken or beef and you can put any veggie you want in it.

Also, there was a time that was maybe? around 10 months when LO got most excited about eating if it was finger foods and he could pick them up himself, and peas were a big hit since he was fascinated by trying to pick them up.

LO generally doesn't like meat, but would eat his weight in Swedish meatballs.
Also, I mix up yogurt with silken tofu for some extra protein. Cottage cheese is a big hit in our house.
Also, LO loves beans. Now I just open a can of beans and give them to him straight, but when he was younger I'd do things like puree some cannellini beans, mix them with sweet potato, and serve him that, and he loooooved it.

We did a lot of muffins and pancakes with fruit in them (zucchini, blueberry, apple, pumpkin/cranberry). Grilled cheese cut up into small squares was a hit for us (we tried sneaking in ham but he always found it and took it out). If my son had been willing to eat pasta we would have done that too. Mashed potatoes and meatloaf were good too since they can both be broken or scooped up small.

Wagon Jr. loved things coated in melted cheese! :) A great way to get dairy and fat in too. We did cheesy pasta with mixed veggies and ham pretty often. He loved that.

My husband and I have been trying to incorporate more foods, textures, tastes into LO's diet. Her ped. told us to try to get her to eat some richer foods to put on a lil more weight. She's a bit on the picky side. She's only even enthusiastic about eating if it's yogurt or fruit! We're both working parents, so time with the baby is valuable to us in the evenings and weekends. Neither of us wants to spend a huge amount of time preparing meals for ourselves and the baby.

What meals do/did you prepare for yourself with your little one in mind? Or any creative, simple meals for a picky lil 10 month old?
