Beans are great! We just rinse the canned (cooked) beans and send them. They are soft and a great finger food.

We also do tortellini cut up and lots and lots of fruit.

I gave my son stalks of broccoli and asparagus steamed until pretty mushy, corn pinwheels (steamed corn on the cob sliced into 1/2 inch pieces), blueberries cut in half, a banana cut into pieces, mum mums, yogurt melts, puffs, spears of watermelon, Kraft Mac n cheese, soft cooked veggies from soups (like carrots from chicken noodle soup, canned green beans (softer than frozen).

Once he hit about 10-11 months I also gave him bits of meatball and chicken apple sausage.

Green beans are pretty easy and mess free (I microwave frozen ones). Crackers or toast spread very thinly with nut butter (if allowed) or hummus. I have just started giving my almost 9 month old sandwiches cut into strips (peanut butter, since we are at home so no nut restrictions). She likes tortellini to (i cut them in half for her).

Trying to think of the least messy things.

DS gets purées at school because that's been easier to send in but I'd like him to start eating more solids there. I just want it to be something easy for the teacher though. I sent in cut up canned peaches. And I know other fruit would be fine, but what else would you send in?
