Loved the Tommee Tippee bottles - 4 parts including the cap, no weird crevices for milk/formula to get into. They were super easy to wash by hand, or throw in the dishwasher.

My Avents were great and Tommee Tippee also clean up well- I put a mixture of vinegar and water for 5 mins or so and that always cleared out the milk residue. The dishwasher almost made things worse.

I really liked the Avent ones, the honey colored bottle system has fewer parts than the clear bottle.

I used drop ins when we travelled, I'd portion out the formula powder in the bag, then rolled them up and popped them in a container. Probably looked like other cargo, lol, but we never had a problem with them.

I really liked my avent natural bottles - 3 parts, easy to clean, glass and plastic options (I like glass, but plastic is lighter for on the go), easy to find everywhere, in case you need to run out and buy a bottle in an emergency.

DS1 had Dr Browns but DS2 I got to take Mam after I got sick of the Dr Browns leaking. Both my kids had reflux so a venting bottle with a slower flow was important. I liked the MAM bottles a lot. Still had some an extra part (a rubber gasket at the bottom of the bottle) but super easy to clean and put together and it's made to sterilize in the microwave on its own (you just put the parts and nipple inside the bottle, throw the lid on top, and nuke for 90 seconds.

I really wanted Avent to work (it was my registry set) but the flow was just too fast for my babes. I hated the Nik bottles and the Playtex ones were also too fast and my kids didn't like the nipple.

@SweetCaroline: I wondered the same thing about the water. But also didn't want to sound snarky. Haha. But it's something I really wondered. If the liners are recycled and less water is being used, is it really so bad? But I'm not an environmentalist so I don't know the true answer. I just recycle the sh*t out of everything. 😂

@travelingnanny: @SweetiePie: I have the same question but didn't want to sound snarky either! And--at some point does the decreased water consumption (due to less washing) help "make up" for the manufacture/reuse of the plastic?

I use the drop ins and like them a lot. We had a bottle refusing baby who hated the Avents. One day I was desperate and 4 different kinds to try. I really like that it's so easy to clean and great for travel. I just rinse the ring and bottle in hot water because they don't really touch anything. The nipple and cap get washed in the dishwasher and the liner gets thrown in recycling.

Another one with less parts is the joovy boob. The ring and nipple are attached so less pieces. It had problem with the nipple collapsing though. I think there was some trick to it that I never figured out.

@2littlepumpkins: we used a bottle warmer! The liners handled the heat just fine. They are in there a fraction of the time of a normal bottle. The good thing is other methods (lukewarm thermos, car heater...ha!) are also viable in a pinch due to the thin liners.

@SweetCaroline: How did you heat them? I've only found bottle warmers or something that continuously heats the water to be a realistic solution long term, and the drop ins can't really go in there..although I did for awhile stick them *over* the bottle warmer. I don't know if that was a nono though. My mom used them too! ;)

@SweetiePie: honestly, I think they aren't as flashy as other brands and don't make all the promises that tired Mama's want to hear like other brands, that's why they aren't crazy popular. I almost bought Dr. browns because of that but laziness won out :silly:

My mom used Drop Ins with my brother and he is 27 now, so they've stood the test of time!

@SweetiePie: we exclusively used Playtex drop ins. I don't know why more people don't use them! They were amazing and I will use them for the next baby. I bought the liners on Amazon S&S. The BEST part IMO is that if you have to heat a bottle, it heats SO FAST because the heat only has to penetrate the thin plastic liner, not the thick wall of a traditional bottle. We had 3 Advent bottles and DH hated them because was so spoiled by how fast drop ins heat up!

I haven't even touched on the fact that drop ins make bottle washing so much easier!

@SweetiePie: I liked them except when I ran out of liners or had to run to the store just for more. My dd did well on them. I don't love the new bending ones, I feel like the bending is unnecessary and more places for it to get dirty, but the clean factor of just changing the liner was nice. The markings on the sides aren't very accurate though bc it depends on how stretched the liner is. But overall they were definitely convenient and not much has for my dd. We started her on them at 4 months because as a newborn she really opened only wide enough for standard nipples.

Avent and playtex drop ins! But we started with dr browns for the newborn stage both times. (#1 I pumped for six weeks, #2 I mostly imply pumped to avoid getting mastitis- we got thrush after like two or three days, so neither kid was bf.) With #3 we want to do avent naturals glass bottles and combo feed. They came out with an even slower nipple so fingers crossed it'll work. I travel often for work so bottles have to happen even if I can take baby on some trips.

@SweetiePie: Since you mentioned Playtex drop ins, I will say that I have been using Kiinde bottle system. Its amazing and I think I would use it even if I was using formula. I honestly don't even really give a thought about washing the parts. Its just the bottle nipples that need to be washed. Truly amazing.

@kiddosc: I second these, but with the latex nipple! It was the only kind DD2 would take and it has only 3 pieces. Bonus: it's dirt cheap!

ETA they are compatible with the Medela pump, I use bottles/lids/nipples interchangeably so super easy to use and reduces washing!

We used the Playtex nurser bottles when we traveled or were on the go a lot and didn't have access to a dishwasher. I secretly wanted to use them at home too, but it felt wasteful when we had access to a dishwasher.

For everyday we used glass Life Factory bottles. They were dishwasher safe and super easy to clean since it's just the bottle the nipple and the ring. I also found the nipples to be sturdier; less prone to collapse and stood up better to LO once he got teeth.
