You can make a sushi onesie or R2D2 pretty easily. You can probably get some ideas from etsy...

No diy suggestions, but the children's consignment stores where I live have costumes for $4, and I got LLs for $8 on craigslist!

Ooo a tutu is a good idea!! The local resale shop always has cheap tutus!! Ok, ballerina it is. I can get her a headband and she already has little socks that look like ballet slippers!

Y'all are geniuses :D

You can easily through together a cute ballerina costume or a ghost out of a white onesie and pants.

Tutus are easy and pretty cheap! Might be a little bit of a time commitment, but it's fairly mindless work. If you don't know how there are thousands of tutorials online - you can even find a lot that involve zero sewing.
Once you have a tutu, you can make just about any costume. I was thinking about doing tinkerbell for DD - green tutu with a white onesie + wings

So I have a lovely student in town who does all of my photography, and yesterday I won a free mini photo shoot for Halloween! Yay! Problem is, she needs to do the pics THIS weekend in order to use them as promos for her business.

I have no problem going and buying a costume, if I have to, but baby costumes are so ridiculously overpriced that I'd rather just make one, especially as she is just 2 and a half mos old and won't be wearing it again next year.

Any ideas on something I can throw together in a couple days without being too expensive or time consuming? I have a sewing machine and VERY basic skills, but I can sew a straight line if needed ;)

Also, LO is about 25in long and 12lbs, if that makes a difference. Any and all ideas are welcome!
