In the beginning, I usually ate while my LO was sleeping in my arms . . . and almost everything had to be something that I could open/eat with one hand! I would literally pass by the fridge, grab a handful of grapes and a water (for example) and just keep on going.

I got SO good at either eating over DS (may or may not have dropped food one home once or twice...or more...) with one hand or pretty much inhaling food (if he was napping, or if someone else had offered to hold him while I ate).

It got better once he got a little older...I could put him in the exersaucer, or more recently a high chair and put him at the table with us while we eat. And for the rest of my meals/snacks I wait until he's doing independent floor play and eat in the living room with him.

For about the first 3-4 months, eating was hectic. LO’s “witching hour” seemed to be whenever we finished making dinner; even if we moved dinner time up or back. It was really stressful! We would take turns eating back then; each of us eating faster than we did pre-LO. Now, we just eat dinner after we put LO down for the night. It is SO NICE to get to sit down and eat a normal meal, at a normal pace, with my husband!

Oh, definitely! I'm eating things that are quick and easy. And shoveling it in. I used to be such a slow, conscientious eater.

I shove food down my throat as fast as possible, and have mastered eating with one hand. It's such a habit that I eat that way even if LO is napping!

@coacheswife123: I used to joke that I wish my LO came with a readout on his forehead. "Mama, this nap will be for 3 hours." "You're only gonna get 40 min. Hahahaha."

And then I'd know how much to rush or if I could indulge in a TV show or something truly just for me :) It gets better, I promise.

@pregnantbee: ticking time bomb is exactly how I feel - and my LO has been VERY good and rarely fussy and I still feel that way! When he goes down I do the dishes, shower, brush my teeth, etc at warp speed. I had no idea I could shower and dry my hair as fast as I do now!

Yes, they changed especially in the first 2 months. I felt like baby was a ticking time bomb, and I never knew how long he would be asleep. So the second he went down, I'd shove down dinner/lunch, etc., because if I didn't, I was afraid I wouldn't get to eat. I was also hungry ALL THE TIME. There was not enough food on the planet. So I ate around the clock -- at night wakings, you name it. My eating patterns are a bit more normal again now at 7 months out.

Have your eating habits changed after your child was born? I used to always eat at the same time and take my time and now I just shove a meal down my throat when I can if LO is sleeping! I don't care if its 10:00 and i'm having lunch or 10pm and I'm finally eating dinner. I just get it in when I can and eat so much faster!
