Yep. He's pretty grumpy if he doesn't get his meals and snacks at the right time. I usually just give him a snack if it is snack time or start his lunch if we are driving home at lunch time (it also helps him stay awake when it is too close to nap time).

Just dry stuff like crackers or muesli bars, and only water. I'm currently trying to reduce the a,punt of food that gets eaten on short trips unless I know she's definitely hungry!

Yes. I try to make sure and do non messy things- no milk ever, rarely pouches. It's sort of messy but not too bad. Often I give her something if it's getting close to nap time and I need to make sure she stays awake.

Almost exclusively no, due to choking concerns. If we are out as a family or on a road trip and she needs to eat, we only allow it if one of us is sitting in the back with her.

I am way too paranoid about choking and I am super anal about car cleanliness, so we almost never allow it. Once in a blue (like once every 2-3 months) I will let DD have a trader joes fruit bar (which is like a flat 1" x 3" fruit roll up type snack). She loves them and will devour them instantly, so there aren't any crumbs or pieces laying around afterwards.
