i try to expose LO to very mild spiciness, but have been too scared to try a real spicy dish. i've made a couple of korean dishes with kimchi where i rinsed the kimchi and didn't put the kimchi juice in it--he ate it, but it wasn't very spicy.

My almost 3 year old USED to eat super spicy like we do (DH is half Indian and has trained me to cook/eat very spicy most of the time)...but recently has started complaining that everything is spicy. My almost 1 year old eats spicy for now, but I suspect she might lose her taste for it eventually as well. We'll keep trying!

My LO doesn't like anything remotely spicy so far either. I sure hope she learns to love it at some point, because Sri Lankan cuisine kind of depends on it.

We've tried to expose DS to spice too, and he LOVES it! The kid likes to lick salsa off of chips. :silly:

Bee and I are huge fans of spicy, so we do our best to expose the kids to spicier foods. They have such sensitive taste buds though! Everything is "too spicy"... even things that I didn't realize had any spice at all.

They can now eat slightly spicy pepperoni, which is huge progress. We'll keep working on it, and hopefully they'll get there eventually. So many world cuisines depend on being able to tolerate some spices... especially important since the kids are half-Korean!
