My mil was quite shocked that I had no plans to give a bottle. At 7 months it's nursing or straw cup with water. I think she wished I'd give a bottle so baby could be left with her. But lo and I are not ready to be separated!

R is EBF but gets a bottle of breastmilk at bedtime every night since 8 weeks. I was so nervous about him not taking a bottle and luckily he doesn't seem to care where his milk comes from. The only one who suggests giving him a bottle is my husband :)

E hasn't taken a bottle since he was discharged from the hospital. My child free aunt keeps asking why I don't feed him with a bottle. Or says things like "he is too old to be nursing." Um lady he is 14 months old he isn't too old.

I've had a couple comments like that, but they've been from people who aren't too familiar with how breastfeeding works.

DD1 only took a bottle when she was 10+ months old and only because it was probably novel to her. With DD2 I have no plans for bottles because there really isn't a need for it (I SAH and she can go 4 hours so plenty of time to get away if needed). I hear all the time I should introduce bottles and I just ignore :)

Both kids were EBF but took bottles of breast milk at daycare. I don't recall anyone ever suggesting I give them a bottle because it would be easier than nursing though.

DD has to take bottles since I went back to work! She went through bottle refusal, then nursing strike, and now we finally seem to be in a good place.

I remember the FIRST time I took DD out to someone's house.. Obviously we're still trying to get the hang of nursing in public, wrangling w/ cover, position, etc... We were there for a while so I did this twice. As we were leaving, a MAN (he is a dad, but still!!!) asked me why I don't just pump b/c it's so much easier. I'm like, and you know b/c...?!?!?!

She takes a bottle 1x a day at night with her Dad. I pump 2x a day and sometimes give her a bottle from the am pump. We got started with bottles and pumping on day three since she got dehydrated.

Dd2 is ebf and gets bottles of breasrmilk at daycare. We tried at home before starting daycare and she fought is tooth and nail. Would not drink a drop. I was really worried she wouldn't drink any till she got home to nurse. But day one of daycare and she took all her bottles. My little chub rocker knows when there is only one food option! Lol

Most of the comments I've gotten are from childless people.
DD1 had two bottles in 15 months. I didn't really see the point in pumping so someone else could feed her and then pumping again to make up for the missed feed.
Pretty much planning on doing the same with DD2.

She took a few bottles in very early days, but by 4-5 months flat out refused. Now she's nearly one and I've got her drinking WCM out of a straw cup during the day, but it wasn't easy. She won't take a paci or suck her thumb either.

C was ebf but she would take a bottle- she didn't really like it but she could do it. I did, however, still get comments about "just give her a bottle", if I was going out of my way to nurse instead. I was quick to point out that the milk that went into that bottle still had to come from me and feeding her directly was a lot easier than prepping a bottle, cleaning that bottle, and pumping to make the milk for that bottle.

This is from the same few people who throw around "why don't you just get a babysitter?" I will when necessary, but no, I'm not spending $15-20 an hour for whatever you think I should.

Spoiler- my younger, childless sister is a big commenter in this.

She would NEVER take a bottle. Even when we left her with people, it was only after she started solids, so that they could feed her something.
We got so many comments about how our lives would be easier if we just gave her a bottle/pacifier occasionally. But she WOULDN'T take one!
