@skibobrown: probably not until 2014. because the letter says not only is my coverage dependent on the test, so is my husband's... but my baby is fine! ha.

Wait, I thought with the new ACA they can't deny you coverage if you have a "pre-existing" condition... like pregnancy. ...or is that not for a few more months until it kicks in entirely?

You could also try the local health department.

I'd go to Planned Parenthood or your county's health department.

That is so lame! If Planned Parenthood isn't an option, what about some type of neighborhood clinic? I've seen a few on my way to work and they seem to cater to the uninsured.

Planned Parenthood should do it inexpensively!

What about going to planned parenthood? They might be a great resource for a situation like this. I believe they work on a sliding scale. Otherwise I would call my doctor and explain. They might be able to handle that pretty cheaply. How silly though!

We're applying for new coverage and because I told the truth on my form and said I hadn't had a period in the last 6 months because I gave birth in January and still haven't had a period, I received a letter from the underwriter saying I had to go to a doctor and provide proof of a negative pregnancy test!

so ridiculous and super lame because we don't have insurance so who knows how much that will cost!

anyone else have to prove they are not pregnant before? where should i go to get a cheap (negative) pregnancy test from a doc? (i seriously can't believe i have to do this!)
