Thanks everyone! I do tend to overthink and complicate things!

He does take a bottle just fine as I work FT so that should not be a problem. Although I have never tried to give him one myself. Maybe I will start introducing one bottle a day or formula to see how it goes.

My supply definitely drops when I work long hours, I am away from him for 12-14 hour work days for a few weeks at a time. And I am heading into a period of that now so it is a good time to introduce it since I worry I won't keep up.

My second self weaned at ten months. Before she weaned I had a big drop in supply and had been trying to supplement with formula to no avail. She simply refused every brand we tried.

Turns out she preferred WCM from a sippy. Our pediatrician was fine with her on cows milk as the recommendation in Canada is to introduce it at nine months.

Does your LO already take a bottle? I think that was a big part of the struggle for us.

I weaned at 9 months (dried up), but started supplementing with formula around 6 months.

I never mixed anything; she just took formula so it was easy!

I would probably just try a bottle of formula and see how he takes to it before I messed with trying to mix it. Maybe it will be no big deal and he'll be able to switch it up whenever you need to sub in a bottle of formula.

Ok, my son is almost 9 months old and it is time to start weaning him from EBF. I will likely continue to nurse morning and night, I just want to begin to wean in preparation for trying for #2 and to get away from my pump.

I won't get into the guilt over this decision, we have been extremely lucky in that we could EBF for this long and I know I could continue but at my age I know it is important to start preparing to try for another.

How do you go about introducing formula? I hope to still be able to use my freezer stash such that he will still receive breast milk through his first birthday but I know I don't have enough. Clearly mixing the two is best in the beginning but how do you know how much formula etc? Do you just follow their lead and provide more as needed?

Any other tips/considerations? TIA!
