My son has had eczema since he was a few months old. The pediatric dermatologist has us using Aquafor on him 2x a day in addition to his prescription (steroid) creams. We were able to keep it in check the entire winter with that regimen, even though it's a huge pain. She told us not to worry too much about the type of detergent just as long as you are doing the extra rinse in the washer. I also have him sleeping in only cotton PJs so his skin can breathe at night.

@Becksabee: How has the EpiCeram worked for you? Our pediatrician is looking into it before she prescribes it, since she's not familiar with it.

I just started using CeraVe on both my boys, but she prescribed us Triamcinolone (steroid) ointment if it doesn't work.

Our dermatologist said to use non soap, 100% fragrance free body wash and lotion, like Cetaphil's Restoraderm line (the body wash and lotion helped our son's eczema). It has ceramide, which is great at retaining moisture. Dove sensitive may have fragrance - even a little can irritate. Even if a product is marketed as a baby eczema product, check the list of ingredients to make sure it doesnt contain fragrance. I had an Aveeno baby lotion for eczema and it had fragrance so I couldnt use it.

my friend's son has the worst eczema (she has it too). she's been to allergists and dermatologists and tried a gazillion products, both prescription and nonprescription. she said the best is this. she applies it in the morning it's way better in the evening:

http://www.hoskingspharmacy.com/baby-infant-face-rashes.htm

She is shipping some to my mom who has some really bad eczema right now, and some to me because she says it's the best lip balm ever (and I have the most chapped lips in the history of mankind).

For myself prior to nursing, I used Nivea eczema cream. I have tried tons, and that seems to do the trick.

Now we use breast milk to clear it up on myself and the boys

I'm looking for tips on how to deal with my son's eczema. He's 19 months old and was diagnosed a little over a month ago. It's pretty much all over, but mostly on his arms and legs.

The doctor gave us EpiCeram (non-steroid prescription topical) and we've also been using Cerave Cream and Aveeno Baby Eczema Cream. We also switched to Tide Sensitive Skin for laundry detergent. (I've washed all his clothes and linens in that). We also switched soaps ... we were using J&J Baby Shampoo and now we're using Dove Sensitive Skin.

It actually pretty much went away after switching up the products, but it's coming back again. I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips we haven't thought of or that the doctor hasn't mentioned. He prefers that we don't use steroids unless nothing else works.
