@regberadaisy: yes, just the 1%. Depending on how bad it was, it might take a couple days of morning/night application, but it always helped.

That looks like Logan's eczema to me. We use Aquaphor, but for flare ups, we have a prescription for Desonide which works AMAZING. Good luck.

We use vanicream regularly and treat with prescription steroid cream as needed. Important to clear up the spots so that your LO doesn't scratch them and get the area infected. Hydrocortisone also works to help relieve the itch.

@ValentineMommy: yeah, I actually switched from CeraVe to Vanicream based on a bunch of HB recommendations. It really helped a lot in the beginning. And we are still using it 1-2x daily.

@MrsScallop: @futuremama: @sandy: just 1%? The same stuff we use for itching?

Vanicream was actually the only thing that got rid of my sons bad patches of eczema. He had steroidal creams that would work while we used them, and once we stopped, the spots would come back. Used vanicream on it twice and it's been gone ever since. Best stuff ever.

@regberadaisy: we battle it so much in my house. Started with Vanicream and it helps mild cases but Pure Haven Essentials Dream Cream works wonders on the most stubborn ezcema

My son has had terrible eczema and OTC hydrocortisone always worked great. I am a big believer in the Eucerin Eczema cream for him now though. Went from using hydrocortisone nearly everyday to only once every few weeks.

DD's is similar. OTC Hydrocortisone has helped a ton when it flares up. To prevent, we douse her in gentle lotion as often as she'll let me.

That does look like eczema to me but a lot of skin irritations can look similar. Have you tried hydrocortisone creams?

I have adult eczema and use 3 different kinds of prescription creams to treat it depending on the severity. One for my eye area that is the most heavy duty. One is super mild and safe to use during pregnancy - desonide. And the other is also pretty mild - basically like a prescription strength hydrocortisone - triamcinoline

My friend's kids have severe eczema and she does bleach baths and some prescription creams that are similar to what I use.

Do you keep her mostly in long sleeves?

I have eczema flare up on my inside joints because of the skin to skin contact (I'm allergic to my sweat) so when my skin rubs together with my sweat I get a really bad flare up. I'm usually in long sleeves in long pants due to this reason.

For my little one we keep him in long pants and sleeves when possible and use hydro cortisone 1% (over the counter) which keeps his flare ups at bay.

DD2 is 19m and has always had mild eczema. But last month or two it has been flaring up and getting better with cream and Lotrimin

But right now she has another bad flare up and it is now in more spots.

Does it look like your LO's confirmed eczema to you? Are there any OTC creams I can use? We have her 18m checkup in 2 weeks and will be talking about it then unless it flares up really bad again. Probably call and speak to a nurse in the morning too.

Mainly it's the inner thigh and inside of her left elbow that keeps coming back. And this time there are a few new spots.

Thanks!
