@ninja: @petitenoisette: @Littlebit7: Yes, you guys are totally right, we need to cut way back on hair washing. I used to be in that camp, but after every daycare illness under the sun we began nightly baths with soap head to toe. It's time to cut back on the hair washing! Thanks for the validation!

@Boogs: @gingerbebe: Coconut oil seems to have done wonders. I rubbed it in after her bath and washed it out the next evening at bathtime, lightly using my nails to loosen up the dry skin. We had to try to keep a hat on her so she didn't look like a total grease ball

We only wash my son's hair once a week because of what you are describing. Seems to have helped for him.

We do coconut oil scalp massages at dinner and let it sit and then use T-Gel shampoo a few times a week.

I would cut wayyyy down on hair washing. My daughter got really freaked out about washing her hair so we basically stopped doing it for weeks at a time. I would comb it out and spray it with detangler as necessary. It didn't get gross.

We use Weleda Shampoo and Body Wash on my son. Its the most moisturizing one I've found.

@SweetCaroline: We wash daily, but only use soap every 3rd day. We buy the aveeno oatmeal bath packets, and they seem to clean and make his hair smell good and help to not dry out his skin or scalp. It does leave tiny flakes behind but they brush out easily.

Mustela is great. But if you can, I'd try washing every third day or so. I'm not sure if you are already doing this, but if at possible, I'd try to limit her baths to once or twice a week at most. Baths and washing in general are sooooo drying and really encourage eczema.

We used Tubby Todd's All Over Ointment for my sons cradle crap and it worked awesome. We also use it for my other sons eczema. It's amazing stuff.

Maybe liquid cortisone? Try just on one area to see if it helps? I had a terrible dry spot on my scalp and that's what the dermatologist suggested. Cleared it up in a week, it was amazing!

Every time we do the coconut oil trick it works for us. We've also stopped washing hair unless necessary.

DD has a terribly dry scalp. She is 2 years old and has eczema. Her scalp is so dry, she scratches it, it bleeds and scabs...and I feel so awful.

I don't think it is dandruff or seborric dermatitis, it is so friggin dry, excess oil production doesn't seem to be an issue.

We've been using Burt's Bees or California Baby Shampoo, both of which are very clearly drying and not moisturizing in the least. We need to stop washing hair daily and start using a moisturizing shampoo.

I put her to bed with coconut oil massaged in her scalp tonight and am planning to grab Mustela or Cetaphil baby tomorrow. Is there another product or method of attack I should be trying?
