@jennlin821: I love the gingerbread idea! They can make them mummies, zombies, ghosts, witches, whatever with different colored icing. I'd probably buy little candy eyes and make up a big batch of icing and divide it into a few colors: lots of white, some red, green, orange, maybe black. Then put it into sandwich baggies so that they can squeeze and decorate or use popsicle sticks to spread it around. With 10 year olds, I think the key is to do something they can be as creative (or not) as they want. Be prepared with lots of red for blood from some of the kids

What about Rice Krispie squares cut in the shape of ghosts or pumpkins, and some decorations and icing to decorate them? You could get the candy eyes and some icing tubes.

I’ve made these the last two Halloween’s. I did them myself as a Halloween treat but it’s easy and fun and I could see it being a craft for older kids.
Applesauce monsters:
Applesauce pouches
White gauze (the kind that sticks to itself)
Big pack of googley-eyes (self stick)
Sharpie or maybe puff paint if they’ll have time to dry?

could you make sheet pan marshmallows to bring in?
then have the kids use Halloween cookie cutters to cut them out. They then each take one to decorate with some kind of edible (food coloring?) paint?

Or do Halloween gingerbread men and decorate. Gingerbread mummies?

If you are looking for something a little healthy, maybe bring in a selection of foods (carrots, popcorn, grapes, etc) and then have them decorate a container for them. Something like rubber gloves... they can use stickers or markers to decorate the glove, then fill it up with snacks?

Or something else with Halloween cookie cutters, like bread, and then have pre-cut foods (like cheese triangles) to make jackolanterns?

@jennlin821: oops sorry - Halloween - less than 10 mins - make and eat right away

@Mrsbells: I scoured the net and I dont know, everything seems cheesy for 4th grade

@Mamaof2: Pinterest has some good ideas for things to do. Without knowing any of the details my first thought is using marshmallows and toothpicks to create something

I think we need more information to help!

Is there a theme? (Fall, Halloween, school, etc)
How long should it take?
Edible meaning they will make it then eat it, or make it and take it home?

I need to come up with an edible craft for 4th graders (9 and 10 yr olds)

This is a peanut and tree nut free classroom - cant be too involved as the teacher also wants to do a craft and game.
