Have you checked out the resources at the American Educational Research Association? I work in the education field (but I'm not a teacher) and I interned at AERA back in college. But of course, like @Happygal said, I'd check out peer-reviewed journals for topic ideas -- NAEYC has a list of peer-reviewed journals, and ERIC has access to a lot of journals. You can find a lot of Google Scholar too.

Good luck!

I love research! Are you interested in a quantitative or qualitative study?

If you have access to online journals, I would start with the peer reviewed ones on reading education, looking at the topic of reading at home. Are students reading to parents, or just to themselves? Reading Rockets is a good website for all as well. Often research articles will end by sharing what needs to be explored in further depth, which is very helpful to you.

I recently did an action research project on equity in education and culturally responsive teaching. There was a good amount of research and professional journal articles to choose from. I also find the topic extremely helpful to my teaching.

I don't know much about DIBELS (I'm secondary) but I am sure there must be plenty of articles you could use to support your research. Does your university library have access to professional journals? I find ERIC to be especially helpful when it comes to education based articles. Perhaps you could ask the librarians at your university to help point you in the right direction as far as databases to search?

have you read "the read aloud handbook"?? I just finished it - the author has a ton of citations in the back that might be helpful if that is the proposal you're going to work on. Otherwise I would start searching in JSTOR or whatever database you have access to with those key words?

I am taking classes to finish my masters right this summer. Right now I am taking educational research. I am sooooo bad at research and I find the whole thing very overwhelming. Once I get started I'm ok, I just never know where to start.

My assignment is to write a research proposal on something educational. Any topic ideas? I think that's where I'm stuck. I was thinking of using something I did at school but I'm not sure how to start.

We had students increase their at home reading time from 15 minutes to 30 minutes and assessed their oral reading fluency using DIBELS. I feel like that could be a good research proposal but I don't know what to look up for literature.

Ugh! I get so self-conscience when doing these type of things. Help!!
