Do you have story cubes or spot it? Also, math dice. I basically browse amazon and always come up with options.

We play Richard Scarry's Busytown with our 3.5 year old. There is a lot of counting and vocabulary building.

Not sure what's considered educational... seems like even the obnoxious battery-powered toys these days teach something (alphabet, numbers, etc.). If you want to stay away from that, we love jigsaw puzzles, legos, magnatiles. My older kid also started playing checkers/chess and kanoodle around 4-5 years old.

Do you have any games from Orchard Toys? I am a
Speech therapist and use them for work, but my 3 year old loves them. They're all educational. I just bought one called Bus Stop and it targets adding and subtracting as the people grt in and off the bus. The games are super colourful and really appeal to kids. I buy mine off Amazon but can also find them in specialty toy stores.

My DS (almost 3) recently played Pop the Pig at my cousin's house with her son (just turned 4) and he LOVED it. They said they are buying it for him for his birthday because he was obsessed. I think her son really likes it, too. I'm not exactly sure on the game play, but I think it involves colors and counting.

I think there was a post on the blog about good board games for kids around 3 years old a few months ago!

Board games!! He loves them all!

Also, those brain quest skinny books/flash cards are great. Especially when out at restaurants.

We love board games from the company Peaceable Kingdom. My 4.5 year old is a cardshark at Go Fish and she also loves Hoot Owl Hoot. The games are nice because a lot of them are collaborative in nature, and everyone wins by working together.

Edited to add, I guess these aren't entirely "educational" but that same company does some games that are more hard skills-oriented.

My 4-yr old son loves to play this card game called Blink. They say it's for ages 7+, but my son and his friends totally get it. Even my barely 3-year old plays albeit much slower.

My four year old really loved a science experiment kit that she got this year for her birthday. Most of it could probably be compiled separately, but it was nice to have all in one place ready to go. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BURAP2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_nhJNybR3481B2).

She enjoys playing toy store with a cash register and toy money that we're using to learn about currency and basic economics. She also has a few educational puzzles - one of the body, the solar system and a floor puzzle of all the states. If your kids don't have magnatiles, I'd also heartily recommend them. Less in-your-face educational, but I see her learning basic geometric concepts through play with them.

What educational toys/games or books are your 3-5 year olds showing interest in?

LO's birthday is coming up and I know what I'm getting her but would love some other ideas that are slightly educational to give as ideas, or if affordable I could add to her main gift.
