LO has an egg intolerance. It presents itself in copious amounts of puke. Lovely :). She is 13 months, and we haven't been brave enough to reintroduce it yet.

@Mrs. Jacks: good idea. Our next appt is his one year in 3 months though! I'm really wanting to try egg with him...I'm not creative with breakfast options. :-)

@MrsScallop: I've been playing it pretty safe. I'm so paranoid about reactions!

@Mrs. Jacks: thanks for the flu vaccine reminder! I know I have seen something about that before, but didn't even think about it!

@matador84: I had thought we needed to wait to try egg, but the Dr specifically said egg is ok and even that introducing potential allergens earlier reduces the chance of a reaction occuring. Now I am nervous about trying some other common allergens early!

@matador84: Why don't you make a little scrambled egg and give it 15 minutes prior to your next pediatrician appointment? They'll know what to do if something happens!

@Mrs. Jacks: what is a good way to introduce it? How much? I'm so scared LO will have a reaction and I won't know what to do!

@matador84: Early introduction of egg has been associated with lower incidence of allergy to it :)

We had an egg allergy scare. She got super itchy and had bumps and redness on her arms. I'm going to ask her ped at our next visit. It was either the egg or the small bit of butter we used. Sometimes greasy things break me out so it could've been that.

We had an egg protein intolerance that lasted from 4 months to about a year. I didn't introduce until about 15 months to be sure.

Reminder: be very cautious about the flu vaccine. Lala definitely used to react to it! (but she's ok now).

LO is 6 months old and we just started solids this week. At her last ped appointment, the Dr said we didn't really have any restrictions to what foods to give her other than no honey or choking hazards. With that in mind, DH gave C a few bits of scrambled egg during breakfast. Shortly after though, C got what looked like hives or a small rash on her chin, around her mouth, and a couple spots on her knee. DH is colorblind and couldn't see it, but I swear she reacted in some way. The rash and spots went away within an hour. I assume this means she has some level of an egg allergy, but with a very mild reaction. How long do I need to wait before introducing egg again? Has anyone else experienced an egg allergy? How did your LO react and for how long?
