@daniellemybelle: my I'd had perma scrapes on her knees until shorts weather was over, so what do I know? But they were all from tripping over nothing. :silly:

@yin: I think they are less needed because they aren't going fast yet like others said! Your LO is older than mine so probably going faster!

@daniellemybelle: The options are pretty slim for smaller kids. :bummed:

@Foodnerd81: @hilsy85: Okay - we are skipping them. Thanks! If she gets banged up, I'm blaming y'all. ;)

@yin: I saw those! They just seem kind of big for a newly 2 year old.

We don't own a scooter but C has used friends at the park, and she is just a bit older than your Lo. She really really doesn't go fast at all. I insist on the helmet just to get her used to it being a requirement, as I do on her balance bike where so far she is just walking it pretty much. Like @hilsy85: she falls more just running around. I would say not necessary- and I'm pretty paranoid!

We haven't gotten any elbow/knee pads...he rarely falls at great speeds from his scooter, and gets more scrapes from just falling while running.

I have been meaning to buy some for my 4.5 year old. I have the set by Strider in my Amazon shopping cart.

We are getting LO a Micro Mini scooter for her birthday. We're getting her a helmet with it and I assume we should get elbow/knee pads? But the kids in the pictures don't have any - just helmets - and I know from working in marketing that if it were at all dangerous/not recommended to go without, they would put them on the models so they don't get sued.

Also, I googled it and found some people saying their 2 year olds won't wear them. So it sounds like it could be kind of a waste? If it's important we'll insist but if not, I figure avoid the battle.

ETA: If your answer is "yes," let me know what brand you recommend. Not finding much on Amazon.
