I had wrist pains on my left arm during thr last trimester and after giving birth, my left wrist feels fine but my right wrist is in a lot of pain! It's mostly any motion that uses my thumb or inner wrist - I can't even sign my name without it hurting!!! Some of my mommy friends says it goes away but hearing @rubies saying it still hurts at 7.5 months pp is scaring me!!!

Thanks for posting about this- I had very bad carpal tunnel during pregnancy, to the point that my fingers were numb all the time. The numbness has gone away, but my hands and wrists are exactly as you described. Bummer that it hasn't gone away after 7.5 months!

What has helped me some is to extend all of my fingers repeatedly. I've found that I have been clenching my fists at night, so they are sorest in the morning. If I do the opposite, it helps everything feel better!

I used to get something similar when playing tennis. First step is to stop the activity or get a brace, just like Dorytina mentioned.

Also, I realized that I was way too tense when playing tennis. I learned to relax my muscles a lot, and that helped dramatically. I applied something similar to holding the baby, and it has been a huge help! I also rest the baby on my stomach when I am holding her, so that I am not supporting the full weight of the baby with my forearms. That is super helpful too.

Good luck!!

My doctor called it "mommy tendonitis"... I had it in the wrist I would use to lift RJ's legs while changing his diaper. She said it happens to all new moms. I used some wrist braces I got at CVS (you can also get them from sporting goods stores, cheaper than getting them at the doctor's). I used those on and off for a year.

Help! I'm 10 weeks post-partum and I suppose from holding baby and whatnot, my wrists, forearms, and inner elbows are killing me! The pain! I'm sure my tendons are inflamed...Anyone else have this? How do you remedy it? Sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night and my wrists will be "locked" for a few moments before I can actually move them!
