Haha, well that was a tight poll, but I think the waits are gonna win ;)

Thanks everybody, I really appreciate the input. I'll scrape up some patience and wait!

Just last Friday I tried to go in for an elective ultrasound (I couldn't find a place that would take me before 12w so didn't do it)--so I understand the urgency you're feeling. But I also voted wait, because what you are probably looking for is reliable reassurance, and it doesn't sound like that's available to you yet. (why can't they do transvaginal?!) Waiting is the worst. Hang in there

I would wait. My first U/S was at 8 weeks 3days and they had to do a transvaginal anyways because my uterus is tilted and you couldn't really see anything abdominal. I mean the tech could tell there was something there but couldn't get measurements or the heartbeat.

I only had abdominal, my first was around 8 weeks. But that said I would wait. It is only 6 days and I would be more upset if they couldn't find it.

I think, at this early they won't be able to see much. Which sounds like will just make you worry. So, I would wait.

I wouldn't. I went in for an ultrasound at 7 weeks and they couldn't detect it via abdominal.

I am all for elective ultrasounds to ease your mind - I've done it both of my pregnancies during the second tri in lull between ultrasounds and feeling movement - but I don't recommend going that early. They aren't going to be able to offer you enough to be worth it, even though I know the next 6 days will be so slow. I'd wait and go later if you need the reassurance when there is more to enjoy seeing.

Another wait, sorry! I know it's hard. But I'll share my experience that definitely makes me think wait. My doc set up my first appointment for when I'd be about 6.5 weeks (not even sure why they made it that early). All we saw that day was a gestational sac and a yolk sac, and that was with a TV ultrasound. It made me very nervous until my next US three weeks later, and I kept thinking I would much rather have just waited until later.

I wouldn't get an abdominal scan that early. I would worry I wouldn't see much and cause myself more stress.

Wait.

It's all about waiting anyways. After 8 weeks it's hard to wait until 12 weeks but you sometimes got to wait.

I think that you are a lot more likely to cause yourself more anxiety by trying to get an abdominal scan that early versus relieving any of your worry. I suspect the odds are very high that you really wouldn't be able to see much and that will just make you stress more.

I don't think you can see anything with an abdominal that early? I mean, I'm sure some people could. It won't change the outcome, and it seems like most likely you will go and not see anything and then just freak out even more until your schedule ultrasound.

I'd be nervously waiting for my next scan too, but I don't think I'd go for an abdominal at 7w - it would just cause more anxiety if they couldn't see just bc it was too early.

How about you hold off now and then treat yourself at 30 weeks to a super fun 3D ultrasound?!

Ugh. I have no patience.

I have an ultrasound scheduled next Friday at 8w, but I'm considering going to an elective place at 7w1d, because I just want to make sure everything's okay.

However, they don't do any transvaginal ultrasounds, so their recommendation is 8w but will let you come earlier if you want, with no guarantees or offers to come back later if they can't get a good look.

The package includes a heartbeat stuffed animal, which I think is a cute thing that might be fun for LO.

Would you roll the dice going 6 days earlier? I also have a bit of a belly anyway, which I know can makes early abdominal ultrasounds dicey.

I just have no patience! But I'm so nervous that if they aren't able to pick up anything on an abdominal, I'm going to REALLY lose my mind for the next week until my u/s at my doctor's office.

Would you do it? Or muster up a little scrap of patience?
