I had borderline gum disease when I switched over to an electric, and even though my flossing is still sporadic at best, my oral health is so much better and I no longer am considered an imminent risk of periodontal disease. My gums used to be sensitive, and maybe the old brand of electric toothbrush I had wasn't great, so my gums always bled and I shy away from electric. I just got an electric toothbrush for the first time ever and have used it for 2 days so far. I love it and I don't think I could go back to a normal toothbrush now! I especially love how it has notifications for every 30 seconds (so you can spend that time equally cleaning each "quadrant" of your mouth) and at 2 minutes. </p>
