@Littlebit7: It's really just the space. It sounds like it wouldn't really be worth it, though. Perhaps instead we'll be able to relocate the water heater instead.

Are you only changing it to gain space? How large is your house? Electric tankless aren’t nearly as efficient so other than space, do you have other reasons for wanting one?

We have tankless but not electric. There is a noticeable delay between turning hot water on and the water heating up - sometime the sink runs for what feels like a minute before hot water starts running. Only negative I have noticed with our set up.

@meganmp: I would consult your electricity provider first. That is my husband's line of work and those water heaters really suck electricity. In addition to upgrading your panel, there is potential the power company would have to upgrade their equipmen lleading to your house as well.

ETA: besides the logistics and the monthly cost, the idea/luxury sounds lovely!!!

Does anyone have an electric tankless water heater? We are remodeling our house and it would be a big space saver, but we don't have gas on our street and would need to go the electric route. I know that we would need to upgrade our electric panel in order to do this, but the extra cost is OK. Do you like yours? Hate it?
