I would ask about the curriculum - what's the mix of instruction v. play based learning? What does play based learning look like?

Agree with @looch that asking a current parent why they chose the school is a great question.

I give tours at my son's school and people always ask why I chose the school. If you have the opportunity to ask a parent that has kids there, this is a great thing to ask.

The principal of the school gives a presentation to kick off the tours, and he typically covers a day in the life of a k student that address the schedule. If they don't do a presentation, that would be a concern.

For Kindergarten specifically - do they still nap and when do they phase that out? Do they still get a snack time? What should you expect for parent communication?

Specials - what is standard or offered separately (some do this as part of aftercare choices), how frequently they do them

Recess or other outside time

DS1 starts Kindergarten next year and we're doing our first elementary school tour today. I want to make sure I ask all the schools the same questions so I can compare. Right now I want to make sure to ask about:

* Homework
* Before/After school care
* AIG differentiation
* Parental involvement

Any suggestions for other things I should ask? TIA
