Wow! Thank you so much everyone -- there is something comforting in knowing that many of us are on this journey together and we're not alone (though I wish, of course, we could all HURRY UP with the journey and reach the destination!! But patience is not one of my virtues).

Thank you so much for the suggestions of other links -- I will definitely be looking into those. Warmest congratulations to those of you who have finally gotten your "bfps." I hope the rest of us are not too far behind you. :)

savanarunner -- I am heading to the RE in January, and he had actually mentioned (since he is the one who recommended the HSG) that depending on the results of that test, we could start to think about IUI early next year. So you and I will probably be on a similar schedule. Or maybe you will get preggo in Jan from your IUI... and I will get preggo like Luckyplum after the procedure. One can hope, right?

Finally, I wanted to agree that hitting the one-year mark is a moment of mixed emotion. I was one of those silly ladies who thought she would get preggo in the first month, so coming to grips with the fact that I may need some intervention (or like someone else said, it may just take some of us a little longer) has had its ups and downs. In some ways I am looking forward to trying to determine what may be causing this to take longer than I wanted... but in other ways, I am nervous about the invasiveness (I am way too self conscious), the cost, and the emotional rollercoaster of it all. But I am optimistic, at least, especially hearing the stories of some of you who didn't get your BFP until, for example, 20 months of TTC. I do try to remind myself that when I finally get my BFP, and then when the little one finally arrives, the last thing I am going to be thinking is, "Why couldn't this bugger have shown up a little earlier?!?!" I think being a mom requires adjusting to regularly being "inconvenienced," so my own journey in fertility (or more accurately, lack thereof) is practice for the future...

Thanks so much again for the encouragement, suggestions, and support.

I taped this to my mirror during my TTC journey. It got me through some tough days.

I am sorry that you are here, but welcome.

I have a positive story - My husband and I TTC for more than a year for our daughter. I had very regular cycles (O at CD17-18, 14-day LP) as soon as I came off of BCP, but started having pain during my cycles. I resisted seeing a doctor for a long time because every month I was sure *this* would be it. Finally the pain was too much, so I saw a pelvic pain specialist, who did an HSG and a bunch of other tests. Diagnosis: Endometriosis + 2 blocked tubes. I had surgery and one of the tubes cleared. I got pregnant the first possible cycle after my tube was cleared and gave birth to a very healthy baby girl. We just started TTC #2, and I plan to have an HSG at the start of next cycle to make sure my one good tube is all clear.

I completely understand your hesitation to find a problem because I was the same way. But you can only solve a problem if you know it exists. I could have kept TTC perfectly every month and it *never* would have worked without intervention. I am glad I got help and regret waiting so long.

I hope that you will get good news at your HSG and I wish you the very best of luck as you continue your TTC journey.

No advice but welcome!! We just hit the one year mark the other day. Only had 9 cycles during this time and I would guess 6 were timed as perfectly as possible? I just made an appointment for the end of February to discuss next steps...

Welcome! First of all, I love your username.

Its a rough place to be when you hit that 1 year mark and realize you may need some help. It took me 9 months to get pregnant the first time, and I had just started seeing an acupuncturist. My journey gets much more complicated, but after 1.5+ years of trying, 2 miscarriages, I am finally pregnant again. Turns out I have autoimmune issues that were making implantation impossible. Its too early to know how this one is going, but the signs are looking good so far. Hang in there, it is definitely possible!

Hi, Welcome! The IF community here is a really great support! I also had regular periods and ovulated. We were diagnosed with a sperm problem but after a lot of testing they found a few things with me that made is hard for me to get pregnant. After 20 months of trying and 5 IUIs, I got pregnant on my first IVF cycle. I am currently 11 weeks pregnant.

I agree with what others have said that getting testing done is a great place to start. It is scary, but it will give you more information. A lot of us have been where you are and know how it feels. It is a really tough journey.

Hi there and welcome! I'm sorry you're in this position but I hope that reaching out and getting intervention opens up new opportunities for you. We had a long journey with IF and after many hurdles I'm finally 13 weeks. I never guessed the issue was me - we had some male factor but found out just before starting IVF that I had major issues with no symptoms. I was ovulating regularly, had regular periods, everything seemed fine, but my ovarian reserve was pretty bad. Meeting with a doctor will hopefully give you more answers about what's going on! There's a lot of great support here. Good luck!

Hi and welcome! I'm a bit of a lurker, but I'm trying to change that, and we sound similar so I thought I'd say hello. I was able to get pregnant last summer but miscarried and have dealt with infertility for the past 14 months. I've done the HSG, it really was not at all bad, they clean your cervix before and that was more uncomfortable for me than the actual procedure. I too have had regular periods all my life and don't have any other factors that seem to indicate what the problem is. So far I've only had oral medications (Femara) and they have not worked for me yet. I'm with an RE now and will try injectible medication and an IUI in January. I'm not a success story but I hope to be soon. This is a great community to find answers to some of the questions and confusion that surrounds infertility treatment. Good luck to you!

I don't have a success story yet, but just wanted to welcome you! As @LovelyPlum said, we have a great IF support community here.

My HSG was a little uncomfortable, but not too painful. My doctor suggested taking some Advil before, and I think that helped.

Good luck to you!

Don't worry about the HSG-mine wasn't comfortable, but they can give you good information. And you never know, that could be your lucky cycle. It was for me :)

Hi ladies. Newby here who just crossed over the 12th cycle of well-timed intercourse with no bfp ever. So that means that I can start to try some testing to see if things are working properly and then hopefully some intervention if necessary.

First step for me is the HSG-- I'm dreading it because I'm afraid they'll find something and I'm afraid it will hurt, but at the same time, I want to know if my tubes are blocked

Hubby got the SA and it was normal. That is good but I do think the problem lies with me. I have normal periods and get a positive opk every month. My luteal phase seems to be normalish, though on the shorter side (11-12 days). Everything seems to be fine-- I just don't understand why I'm still not preg :/ I am in my early 30s.

Anyway for those of you've who've done fertility treatment, can you share happy outcomes? I am afraid it won't work for me since my "problem" is not obvious (at least not yet). Any ladies with seemingly normal cycles get fertility treatment and still have success? My friends who have had it have all had more clear issues, e.g. Never getting a period, irregular periods, etc. The intervention worked for those ladies. But will it work for me :(

Thanks in advance ladies.
