I don't have a grill and we don't go to many cook outs so I actually always love grilled hot dogs and burgers! I am also all for whatever is easiest. You could add sausages too, pretty much the same as hot dogs in terms of cooking.

I also always make pulled pork or chicken in the slow cooker but we don't have a smoker or anything like that.

What about pulled pork and the options of slaw, rice, or buns to accompany it?

And then a green salad and fruit!

Pulled pork over rice with pineapple and slaw on the side is one of my favorite summer meals EVER. I'm literally drooling thinking about it!

I was going to suggest pulled pork or pulled chicken. It's always a hit for us.

Greek pita bar. Cook up some ground beef, turkey, chicken, whatever, in garlic, oregano, salt and pepper, cumin, and paprika. Add some mint to the meat if you've got it too. Stick it in a crockpot to keep warm. The rest of the set up is basically like a taco bar - chopped lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta, olives, yogurt sauce, hot sauce, and hummus. And pita bread instead of tortillas.

On the side you can serve cold tabbouli salad, veggies to dip in hummus, pita chips, watermelon/feta/mint salad, and cake!

BBQ sandwiches. You can smoke a brisket or cook some pulled pork or pulled chicken the day before. Serve on rolls or hamburger buns.

@regberadaisy: just make it the day before. They reheat that day. DH does it all the time. Or he gets up at 3am to start it.

@Truth Bombs: @jhd: that's not a bad idea. It's cheap and can feed a large crowd. Only negative is to get the pork butt fall apart in the smoker it takes a good 10-12 hours.

What about pulled pork? Might be easier than slicing the pork loin!

I would probably do something like a smoked Boston butt and then you can pull the pork ahead of time and just let people make their own sandwiches at party time.

DD2 turns 1 at the end of August. Initially we were thinking burgers and dogs and some fun sides. But DH is thinking by the end of summer everyone will be so sick of burgers and dogs.

He is suggesting we do something different. He's suggested smoked pork loin (sliced super thin) sandwiches or big ol mess. Big ol mess is sausages with peppers and onions cooked in a sweet and sour sauce over the grill.

What would you do? Burgers and dogs because it's easiest? Or something different? Any other suggestions? We did shish ke bobs for dd1 and I felt like it was a lot of party time work!
