@bhbee: Endometritis is what I've been nervous about. I've seen that it can happen after birth or a d&e/d&c. I had a saline ultrasound done to check for scarring and abnormalities, but they never mentioned a biopsy to me until I brought it up since I was worried about a uterine infection. They told me I'm not necessarily the type of patient they would recommend one for, whatever that means, but I plan to ask.

It seems pretty controversial since I read a large percentage of women have endometritis and it doesn't necessarily cause problems, but I'm getting desperate.

@NorthStar: I'm so happy it worked for you, that's great news! I'm a little concerned my RE won't want to do this, but I want to try to find some answers as to why we are struggling this year.

I had one when we were struggling for #2. They did an SHG (not an HSG - there’s no dye) to look for abnormalities and did the biopsy as part of that. The biopsy showed some chronic endometritis which i think they’re honestly not sure if it’s normal or not, but they treated with a strong antibiotic. You can’t ttc on that (but the biopsy itself didn’t affect ttc i think) so i believe they let me start bc on cd1 with the anitiobiotic so i wouldn’t lose a whole cycle - stopped both together and essentially started cd1 again. In my case it didn’t make a difference (at least - we still had 6 months to go to success) but it wasn’t a big deal to have it done. Wishing you luck on this hard road

Prior to my frozen embryo transfer last year (and really our last decent attempt), I insisted on an endometrial scratch. It was where they took a straw like tool and roughed up the lining, but I also believe that she took a biopsy/sample as well. Yes, it was very uncomfortable and somewhat painful, but it was shortlived. I think they had me take something (like tylenol) prior to help with any discomfort. I can say that it maybe helped as our FET worked and we now have a 10.5 month old boy! I had my scratch in April and we did our FET May 29th. Good luck!

Does anyone have any experience with an endometrial biopsy? I had a D&E a year ago due to a 19.5 week loss (tx for medical reasons) and have not been able to conceive since then.

We are waiting to see if our 3rd IUI worked, but if not I plan to ask for an endometrial biopsy to see if there is any bacteria or inflammation in my uterus that could be preventing implantation.

We didn't have fertility issues when we conceived last year, and are now considered unexplained since all our tests are fine.

I've read that it's pretty painful, and not sure we could ttc the same month. I'm just at a loss as to why we are having trouble now.

Any input/experiences/outcomes would be much appreciated!
