it took me about a week or so - maybe a little longer. LO started STTN at 8 weeks, the first day or two i pumped, but knew if I just let it be it would get better - and it did!

now of course, at 16 weeks, he's waking up once in the middle of the night and he eats & goes right back down, so maybe I'll have to deal with that again if - no WHEN - he sleeps through again

Not that we're sleeping through the night yet (not even close!) but I have not gotten engorged after a long stretch of not nursing. I am having some supply issues right now and trying to keep up with his demand while pumping at work so I would be ok if I needed to wake up to pump in the middle of the night. But that might get old fast!

So I'm just going through this right now. I 'night-weaned' last Monday and LO has been STTN since last Wednesday. My overnight supply is still going through adjusting, but the last two mornings I've been able to shower and get ready for work before nursing. They were super full, and I leaked a little bit, but it wasn't unbearable pain like before when it was the random night of sleeping through. It's amazing how quickly our bodies adjust.

Same here...Lo had been having one night wake up, and then had 3 for like a week, and then the next time he had only one wakeup I was in so much pain!! I end up waking up before he does to hand express, so it's not like I even get to benefit from his longer sleep stretches.

When your LO started sleeping through the night and not waking up to nurse how long did it take for your breasts to get the picture and not get super engorged at night?

We're not quite there yet, exactly....it's hard, because sometimes he wakes up in the middle of night, and sometimes he sleeps until 8 or 9am. If he doesn't wake up I have been trying to hand-express just enough so it's bearable, but I'm huge and close to tears by the time he wakes up.
