@artbee: How about a music class? That way if she gets fussy you won't have to worry so much since everyone else is being loud in there anyway.

Also, I think thebump.com and probably other websites will give you weekly entertainment ideas based on the baby's developmental age. My friend was a SAHM for a while and she said those ideas saved her sanity!

@artbee: I remember I used to wonder what else to do with baby, so I made a list so we could refer to when I ran out of ideas. I think it was overkill but I wanted to make sure I was having a stimulating time with baby. When we got really bored, I would fill the bathroom sink with water, prop her sitting up, on the top side of the counter (jacuzzi style) and let her kick her feet and ankles in the water. Splash splash without the mess. Well, not too much.

momentspassslow- We do love reading... but the good thing about reading at home is when she gets bored I can just stop. I guess if she gets bored at the library I can just pick up and leave though.

Rubies- My LO has her fussy moments too! That's why I haven't braved the library yet. Some days she's good as gold, and others she'll scream her head off. She has reflux, so I'm hoping when we have that figured out I'll be less scared to take her out.

cyndistar3- yay for chunky monkeys! Mine was 8 lbs 13 oz.

NYCaliMama - That sounds fun! I hope ours sings too, my LO loves when I sing to her!

808love - Sounds like you guys have a blast! I won't like, I'm excited for the day we can start watching Sesame Street!

looch- We go for a stroller ride if I'm desperate, but it's pretty hard with the dog. The baby likes to keep moving, and the dog is always stopping. He scratches, poo's, pees, chases squirrels, etc. I use my baby bjorn with her, she's starting to get more used to it, but she doesn't love it.

Maysprout- What a fun idea! We have tons of instruments, including a keyboard, that we actually never use.

Oh, in addition, she likes pounding on her little play piano as well crawling up and down the keyboard. Then, listens to my husband sing and play guitar and strums a few strings of her own. Lately, practices flicking the lights on and off.

And yes, EVERYTHING is so new and interesting.

My daughter's a bit older 5 1/2 months. We have a keyboard in our house so I play it for her and then hold her above the keys so she can bang on it, she really seems to like music time. I'll wear her around for awhile when I'm doing stuff and she seems to just like to observe. She also gets carted around to the different rooms and put her in various bouncers/entertainment centers or just on a blanket on the floor while I get stuff done. We have outside time unless it's cold and rainy. She likes chewing on books so we try to read once in awhile. Potty time she likes. I think right now everything is interesting to them so you don't have to worry too much about them getting bored.

Can you get out for a walk with your LO in the stroller so you can bring the dog?
What about using a carrier of some sort in the house, so you don't tire out your arms?

About the same when we are at home. We bought a Leapfrog table for $20 off of Craigslist and she has had great mileage on it from months 3-9. I predict in another month or so, she'll be done though. She's starting to move it like a walker.
I also give her time to play in play pen, crib, blocks...I build/she knocks down. Blow bubbles. Photo/video shoots of her latest moves. Also, she plays with a container of household items (empty vitamin jar, teaspoons, whisk) that she adores. Generally making a mess of things is fun til no end. :) Oh and I confess, I did break down and show her a few minutes of videos a day. Ok, more like 10-15 minutes on most days. Yo Gabba Gabba, Sesame Street and Kids123.

I took my 4month old to our library's storytime this week. She still a tad bit young for it, but it's free and a change of scenery so I think it's worth it. they also sing songs in between reading books and I think she really liked that.

It sounds like you're doing great entertaining her at home!

@artbee- that is why I did it. I had my daughter in the end of November so my excercising was pretty limited. She was 8lbs 15oz when she was born, I got lots of arm muscles lol

My LO is 3.5 months old, as well, and I have a hard time keeping her entertained. She likes to play on her playmat but then likes to be carried around everywhere! I'm not yet brave enough to take her to the library and such because she is very fussy and a screamer!

Cyndistar3- we also love dancing! Although I have to put her in her carrier sometimes because she's so darn heavy, at least it's a good work out!

Momentspassslow - I've been debating about going to story hour at the library, it's on a day my mom doesn't work so she can dog sit. My LO is only 3 1/2 months, I'm not sure she's ready even though the thing says 0-18 months. How old was your baby when you started going to the library?

That all sounds great to me! Babies thrive on a schedule so I don't think they mind the repetition - its you that is probably bored! :) It is too bad you can't leave your dog cause I bet your library would be a great place to visit.

SAHM's, how do you entertain your baby all day long?

Sadly, I don't get out much due to my dog's separation anxiety issues. I take him with me when I can, but he's big so it's a lot to handle him and a baby, plus it's going to get too cold to eat at outside restaurants soon so we're going to be stuck at home even more.

Things get pretty boring around here. We play- I put her in her activity gym, I read to her, we listen to music, sing, play with her toys/rattles. She seems happy, she smiles a lot. I'll also put her in her bouncer when I need to get things done, and I'll sing to her as she watches me do things around the house. We'll also sit out front, we have the front yard fenced in for the dog, and she loves the fresh air.

I guess I just feel bad b/c it's pretty redundant. What does everyone else do with their babies all day long?
