I had a spinal for my c section, but no itchies or shaking. I did get violently ill and vomited for like 7 hours, and needed a bear hugger because my body temperature dropped to 95, but that was a reaction to the morphine (thats what they say anyways, who knows.) But I could move my legs again pretty quickly and was up and walking around within 12 hours (my section was at 9pm, so they didnt want me out of bed in the middle of the night)

epidural, and I had really bad headaches after- which they said may have been spinal fluid leaking, they offered a blood patch or to drink caffeinated soda, I opted for the soda; they were gone in a few days.

I had the same thing with my spinal. I couldn't walk until the next day and was super shaky when I did get to.

I had an epidural and aside from the expected shivering (you supposedly can get that just from delivery) my back itched because of the tape they used to hold the epidural in place. They had me up and walking within about 2 hours of delivery.

I requested a light dose on my epidural, no reaction except for uncontrollable shivering. I loved it, it wore off quickly, and I was up and walking about an hour after delivering.

I had both. The spinal worked way quicker and numbed me from boobs down instead of waist down. I had a massively itchy back for a couple days, but I don't know which caused it.

I had a spinal for my section. Took about 8 hours for the numbness in my legs to go away. I delivered twins so i think I got a bigger dosage. No other reactions other than feeling cold in the OR.

I had a spinal and had a similar itchy reaction. I didn't get nauseous with it, but I was cold. I had been in labor for about 24 hours after being induced and was having contractions with no break in between. I didn't even care that I was itchy; the relief was amazing. They piled warm blankets on me and that felt so good to. I think I had been trying to get away from the contractions, rather than giving in to them. I was tensing up and trying to push myself up and away (if that makes any sense). I think the spinal really helped relax me.

I had both. Not my preference, but spinals work faster than epidurals and we needed to something to make my body stop pushing for a time while my cervical lip cleared. But spinals don't last as long. So I got a spinal and once that kicked in (about 5 minutes later), they started a very slow epidural.

I always thought they were the same thing, but when I had my c-section I was told I was given a spinal and not an epidural. I just wonder if I would have had the same nauseous itchy reaction if I had been given an epidural instead. Which did you have and how did you react to it?
