Four years later, and hubby is STILL seizure free, and our DD shows no signs so far. I was huge relief for sure to my husband. He still worries (as do I though) everytime she falls or gets injured at daycare.

I don't know anything about epilepsy, but I do have fears of spreading my and my SO's illness to my baby girl. I have migraines (one reason I kind of wanted a boy, it's more likely to occur in girls and I don't want to be responsible for my baby's pain), and my hubby has crohns.

We also asked doctors and they said that we just have to wait and see. My only hope is that if she does inherit something from us, meds and treatment options should be a lot better by then. My plan for now is not to worry about it, because why worry about things that I can't control? And if she does get it it's not the end of the world. Hubby and I are living with these things, so if she does too than that's just life. It seems like your husband is living a good life thanks to his medicine, so hopefully the same will happen for your baby if they get it.

Of course you hope and pray that doesn't happen and that the baby will be healthy!

My DH was diagnosed with epilepsy in junior high school. They figure he was having petit mal seizures for years because when they think back about it, he often seemed faraway and didn't know what was being said to him, which frustrated him AND his parents. He had his first grand mal seizure in grade 8.

He's been seizure free now for 8 years, and still takes his medication to prevent it. I have never seen him have one (but I have seen two friends). My best friend woke up to her husband having his first in over a year, which is something I hope never to see, but know the odds are I will at some point if he hasn't grown out of them. (he still gets the headaches sometimes that tell him his body is fighting one off)

So now that we are expecting, he's concerned that the baby will develop it as well. There's so much doctors don't know about Epilepsy and its possible causes, so while some doctors say its unlikely baby will inherit it, others say to watch for it.

What experience do you have with epilepsy?
