Jack even had a 7-day NICU stay which was basically covered in full. Like pp said, I had one lab test that wasn't in network and because I was paying out of pocket they significantly reduced the bill for me. When I used the health care calculator, EPO was best for us.</p> <p>The only downside with EPO is you have to make sure everything is in-network to save the most amount of money. When you are at the dr's office or the hospital, you have to make sure they send your lab tests (and other tests) to a lab that is in network. You should call your office and ask which lab they use and then check to make sure that lab is in network. If it is, that's great. If it isn't, I guess you would have to pay for a portion of the lab charges. My doctor is in network, my ultrasound center is in network, and my hospital is in network. Is there any reason not to choose an EPO plan over a PPO at this point?</p> <p>Has anyone had an EPO plan while pregnant? were there any surprise charges (like even though you saw an in network doctor, you ended up with a bill for some out of network charge)? I know anesthesia is the one everyone talks about, because they usually don't take insurance, but I've heard you can fight that bill. any others I should take into account?</p> <p>the EPO plan is a bit cheaper, and the PPO only covers 70% out of network anyway, so out of network would be a bill either way, just a bigger one on EPO. </p> <p>would love to hear good or bad stories about your pregnancy with an EPO plan! </p>
