We have four bibs, 8 OXO spoons, 4 straw cups, 2 sippy cups, 3 snack cups (the type with the lid kids can reach through), a great bowl and masher set that allows you to mash your food into a purée, and a bunch of kid-sized Tupperware for taking meals to daycare. We don't have any plates or bowls - DD just uses our normal dishes.

We really didn't need much equipment. We got one Baby Bjorn bib that we rinse/wash between meals, one 2-pack of OXO spoons, 2 bowls and 2 plates. I made our food and the only new, baby food specific equipment I needed were storage containers or freezing trays.

So in my mind all I needed was some food, now that I'm thinking about it, I need to get shopping!

I haven't started solids yet but you might want to check out the Boon Plum dispensing spoon. We are going to try that with pouches when we start solids.

We are doing blw mainly so I haven't used bowls yet, but spoons are handy to help her anyway. I just ordered a long sleeve bib- the small fabric bibs are useless against solids! I also need to get a vinyl splat mat of some sort since there is a lot of food dropped!

And I'm looking to see what people say about cups- we have some little plastic cups that I help her drink out of, and sippy cups but I'm not such a fan of those yet.

It's a little daunting, starting solids, and it's very messy, but little babies covered in food are just so so cute!!

Depends how much you like doing dishes! Lol
We have 6 bowls, two regular cups, two straw cups, about a dozen spoons, too many bibs to count. Oh! And washcloths!

@sunny: thank you. We're planning to start with ready made puree pouches. I guess eventually once we get the hang of it, we'll start mashing up some of our food.
