You might find that your LO needs the insert and you might find that they don't. A&amp;A (or whatever is handy) blanket rolled up in the bottom. She is younger than recommended, but she's tall for her age (can see out), her legs don't come all the way out of the carrier (only her toes poke out), and she doesn't fight it anymore! And now I'm more comfortable babywearing for long periods of time... DD has good head control, but she still sits pretty low in the ergo, and her legs seem to splay out really wide to fit out the leg holes. To counteract those issues, I've been balling up an Aden &amp; Anais blanket in the bottom of the Ergo, and baby sits on that. It's kind of like the cushion at the bottom of the infant insert, without having the whole hot wraparound part if that makes sense. We bought the Ergo when DD was about 1 year, so she never needed it; with DS, I just started putting him in the Ergo a couple weeks ago.
