Just so you have it available if you want it, here is a link to the Ergo instruction manual: http://support.ergobaby.com/attachments/token/lmvmxf6mpfpaj7b/?name=BC_InstrBook_English.pdf

I was worried about this too since I have a short torso. Tried it on in a store with an SA and they did put it around my hips and adjusted it the same way for DH.

I'm 5'0" and cinch the Ergo around my hips- I love it! I can wear him for hours at a time without problems and he is 22 pounds.

@scg00387: I think there is a website that lets you try on, and if you end up buying it there is no charge.. If you send back, there is some smallish charge. It I find the link I will post!

@T-Mom: I might be investigating that! I feel less guilty since I didn't buy any but the ktan and moby and can resell both... Wish I could try it on!

DS squirms a lot in the Ergo, so it's hard to tell if it's a height problem for me or a baby problem. DH has had more success with it than I have. I'm hoping that when DS calms down a little, I'll be able to wear him. Right now he hits me in the chin with his head.

Ok I was unclear- it's below my hip bones practically where the crotch of my jeans is. @hilsy85: I wish! No baby carriers locally :(

I wear my Ergo around my hips...it's more comfortable for my back that way. I thought that's how they were supposed to be worn?

I'm average torsoed, but I put the waistband around my hips with both my Ergo and Beco. It's much more comfortable for me that way.

Good to know since I'm debating between the Ergo and the Beco. I have a short torso also.

Not sure if you are in the market for a new carrier since it sounds like you have a few already, but the Beco Gemini is definitely better for shorter torsos than the Ergo. I have a Beco and am long torso'd and find that I prefer the Ergo. But Ergo is definitely a better choice for dads. Hope you get it straightened out!

I am an inch taller than you and also have a short torso and I tried my SIL Ergo and I just didnt like how it fit me at all.
I have not had my LO yet and so far just have a moby, but was looking at the Beco also.

I think the waistband is actually supposed to be around your hips--or at least that's where I put it and I have a longish torso. Do you have a baby boutique you could bring it to where they could show you how to properly position it?

We were given a Snugli and Ergo carrier, which is awesome, but I don't have a manual, etc. After reading rave Ergo reviews on here I tried it on and even after adjusting, etc. The "waist"band is around my hips. I am 5'2 with a short torso- is this unavoidable??

I want to babywear!! The K'tan I bought while pregnant was way too small with my BFing chest and I'm having fit problems with keeping the Boba soft carrier tight (waiting to hear back from the company). Moby wrap was tolerated briefly by LO but he wasn't in love.

UGH! Am I doomed to not use the Ergo and just let DH try it out? Or is there a fix?
