I love essential oils. I use them at work (massage therapy) and also at home. Peppermint, lavender and lemon/citrus are mostly what I buy.

@grizz: I use a diffuser by aura cacia. Plugs into an outlet without any cords and it's only about 10 bucks. You just dab the oils on a little pad and slide it in.

Does anybody else use a diffuser for theirs? I'm toying with the idea of getting one. DH loves Wallflowers from Bath and Body Works but the chemicals freak me out

@LovelyPlum: from my basic knowledge, you can use a carrier oil, like olive oil, coconut oil, or any of the other essential oils to make your own blend!

Yeah we use them a lot. I made my own home cleaning blend that works pretty well. Also, fabric softener, and bug spray in the summer.

Just be careful with some of them. Some are very powerful and can burn you if you don't dilute them properly. I learned this the hard way in the bath!

We usually buy from iherb.com. I like Doterra, but I think it's a little pricey. Might be worth it for the blends, and I've heard great things about the laundry detergent.

I use Lavender in my bath and my daughters bath for its calming effects. It makes me so tired. I think it helps her, too.
I also use tea tree oil when cleaning. And I put both of these in our wipe solution.

I have used some of them. Things like peppermint oil and lavender have documented benefits. I raise an eyebrow at some of the ones that promise the moon, though!

I have and use them for us and love it! I make a lavendar + eucalyptus that I use on her chest and feet when she's got a cold. I use lavendar in her bath when she's fussy and eucalyptus in her humidifier if she's sick. I also have a tea tree blend that I use for cuts and scrapes on our dogs and to clean out their ears. I recently bought some ylang-ylang because apparently it's good for libido and I'm hoping that BF this time won't have such a negative effect on our sex life.

One of my closest friends use to sell them and swears by them. I really liked her essential oil mix for a bug spray. I have never bought any from her though, but I might try some now!

Tried them? Like them? Hoax?

I went to an essential oils party a couple of weeks ago and just got our first order. I've been using the lavendar on my feet before bed every night and it's the most restful sleep i've gotten in a long time.

Although I'm not 100% signing off on conventional meds, I highly like and recommend the use of essential oils. A has had a head cold the last few nights and I've been using a cold blend essential oil that has helped him stay less congested over night! (Also used lavendar in his humidifier).

Anyway - it's just starting to come up around here and wanted to know if HB'ers used them or heard of them?
