My OB uses LMP but does an early dating ultrasound around 8w and if that showed a difference of greater than 5 days they would have adjusted my EDD. However with both my pregnancies the EDD by ultrasound was just 2 days ahead of LMP EDD so they just kept it based on LMP. With both pregnancies I have measured about 2weeks ahead so I'll get an ultrasound at 36 weeks. With DD I was induced the day before my EDD, not due to size but because of pelvic pain. Not sure what we'll do this time.

it does matter if you had long cycles...i ovulated 2+ weeks (day 31) after the "average" woman does, and when i told my doctor, she adjusted my due date to 2+ weeks after it was based on my LMP.

My doctor went by LMP and I didn't even bother explaining that I ovulated on day 20, not 14. So far all my ultrasounds have dated me roughly 4-5 days behind where I'm "supposed" to be, so I know I'm right ;)

My ultrasounds are a few days ahead of my LMP/Ovulation dates and that's what they are going with despite the fact that I know exactly when we conceived.

I've noticed on different due date calendars some ask for how long your cycle was and others don't. One calendar (webmd) where I estimate LMP with # days in cycle says I'm 34 weeks tomorrow, but another calendar just where it asks me LMP says I'm closer to 35 weeks. Not that it's a big difference...but I guess when I'm this far along, I'm just ready!

Mine went by LMP but my ultrasounds all indicated that was right on (and I knew I ovulated on or about day 15 of my cycle that month which would have been a 28 day cycle for me).

My DR just went off of my LMP date which always irritated me. I explained to her that my cycles are shorter than 28 days and that since I was charting I knew the exact date I ovulated. She didn't care however she just stuck by the LMP date even though all if my ultrasounds indicated that my date was correct. I even had to wait an extra week to get induced so i was 39 weeks according to my LMP date however 40 weeks according to O date.

Here's another question...when you go for your first appointment and the doctor asks what the first day of your LMP was to EDD...does it matter if your cycles were 28+ days or more? Or does it not matter at all and just based off the LMP? At this point, I think they're just going by what the sono is measuring, but I need to remember to ask my dr. at my next appointment.

I might slap someone if they say to me again "there's no way you'll last 5 more weeks!" or "wow, your due date must be way off!" because it's making me crazy! Did anyone else get a ton of this??
