I'm a pelvic floor PT and would definitely encourage you to seek out a practitioner in your area asap. It sounds like you have a lot going on and would really benefit from skilled PT. I would also hold off on doing kegels right now because your pelvic floor has undergone significant trauma and trying to strengthen the muscles before they have healed can actually make things worse. The estrogen cream will most likely help the tears heal but will not fix everything. The likelihood of it affecting your supply is very low since it's such a small amount and is so localized. The PT can also help with tips for returning to sex. I see patients just like you every day and they all get better! Hang in there and Good luck!!

Hang in there. It will get better.
I don't have experience with estrogen cream but I did have a bad 3rd degree tear. I also had that heavy feeling and a general ache down there for months. But it did get better eventually. I often wondered how people went back to work at 6 weeks when I couldn't stand or walk for long periods.

Hug to you. I had a third degree tear and a horrible recovery. I can promise you this - it gets better! ❤️

I was prescribed the cream right from the start to be applied along the tear.. I guess where the stitches were? DH had to do it for me. I didn't notice any supply issues. I used it right from the start and always BFd and never supplemented. I do think it caused some head aches. But I had them post partum with the daughter too and didn't use cream then (had a c section for number 2) so it could just be how my body reacts to PP hormones.

Also. When you do have sex: slow and use coconut oil as lube. Saved my life/marriage.

I think the cream will really help! Estrogen can affect your supply but you'd be using such a small amount locally I thin it would be ok. I've had friends use the cream with great results

 I have no advice, but want to send hugs and say I am sorry! It must be so tough. Did your midwife didn't say anything else besides the estrogen cream?

I'm 6 weeks postpartum and recovery is rough! Even though it was only a second degree tear, I tore in 3 lengths from perineum to cervix. Ouch! It's been tough, and taking much longer than I ever anticipated. I still can't go for walks without paying the price later. I'm still having some pelvic floor pain and heaviness (particularly after bowel movements) and at my appointment my midwife prescribed Estrogen because my healing from the stitches is looking rough. Does anyone have experience with estrogen cream? Did it help? How so? Did it hurt your milk supply?

Sigh. I'm wondering if anyone has a similar experience with slow recovery and words of encouragement that it gets better. I feel like I'll never be the same. Sexual activity feels like it's months away at this point. :( Exercise feels like it's not happening soon. My muscles are starting to atrophy. I feel like I'm wearing a heavy diaper and my insides are falling out whenever I have to stand 5-10 minutes. I do my kegels. I'm also looking to get a pelvic floor pt appointment. I've got six weeks left in maternity leave and I'm starting to worry I won't feel better by the end. I had no idea an otherwise normal vaginal birth recovery would take so long!
