I agree with checking for codes, but I know my aunt turned a large master closet into a "nursery" for a while. It just had the changing table, chair and crib.

you could always do a half wall. We are considering doing a half wall in our living room to seperate it from the dining area.

Adding a wall is pretty easy, I would advise that you check your local building code. If you are eliminating the window in your bedroom, you could be creating a fire hazard by eliminating a means of egress. This could invalidate any renters insurance you have and create a big liability for you and your landlord.

Yep! My dad built many temporary walls in our old house! He made our garage into his study/grandma's living quarters by putting up a few walls.

Our master bedroom is long (front to back) and we don't need that much space at all, so I'm thinking about building a wall and making a separate bedroom for the baby. It would cause our master bedroom to be the size of a regular bedroom, and the nursery to be a small room accessed by a door in the new wall. Our bedroom would then not have a window but I'm fine with that-- our master bath has a small window.

Has anyone done this? I've read a lot about people doing it in NYC apartments (turning a 1 bedroom apartment into a 2 bedroom apartment without a living room, etc) and I'm really interested in building a temporary wall. Our landlord is so lax about changes that I'm sure they'd be fine with it as long as it can be taken down easily.
