My ex gave me a toolbox filled with tools...I was a little disappointed when i opened it. He did take out the tape measure and put in a jewelry box with earrings but I was still irritated with the tools. I still have that thing 10 years later and use it all the time!

When I graduated High School and was going off to college my Granny gave me a large travel toiletry bag. It was square, and all the sides unzipped so you could hang it up on the back of a door. The inside is 100% plastic and has a ton of pockets for things like toothbrush, soap, shampoo & conditioner, etc. I thought it was ugly and stupid. Now it is invaluable to me! I use it all the time - for multiple uses even! One trip I used it to organize all my jewelry, another time it organized all my baby products. So many uses!

@Foodnerd81: we have a frog like that, and I don't dislike it, but we never ever use it. I guess that goes to show how different we all are. :)

Not really disliked, but maybe unnecessary.

We got a rice cooker as a wedding gift and when we first got it I didn't think we would ever use it because we didn't eat much rice. Now we use it so much it rarely gets put away. I use it for steaming veggies for lo and for making grains for dinner.

Have you ever really loved a gift you weren't sure about at first?
