Yup, all the time :( DH works & also goes to school. He's usually out the door at 6AM & the earliest he'll get home is 9PM. On weekends, he's home around midnight or 1AM. L is a really easygoing baby but sometimes it can still be a little stressful being home alone w/her all day.

Yes...ds is 8 weeks old today. When he was 3 weeks old DH had business out of state for a week. He had previously only spent 2 night home with us since he lives and works out of town. He comes home 2-3 nights a week if he can. I go back to work Monday and he is it of town again the whole week...so it will be a long week!

Sigh. Yes. My mil helps, but at night, I'm by myself. Don't like to ask hubs for help because he has an ultra stressful job. Don't want him to stress out at home.

I was a solo mama for the first 3 months of DD's life. DH was gone at work 7 AM until 7:30 PM -- all of DD's awake hours of the day. It was tough. I ended up with a pretty severe case of postpartum depression, probably partially b/c I didn't have much support at home during that time with the newborn. Ultimately, I ended up finding other support systems to help me out during that time. Just keep trying to remember... things will get easier, but solo mama time is definitely tough!

Oh I do! Right now we are living about a 75+ min commute for my DH, so he leaves around 630 and this week he was home for dinner once, and other than that, I think I saw him for 15 minutes total all week. It can be so hard!

Yes, sometimes. DH works long hours too, so most of the time, he will leave before LO is awake and comes home way past LO's bedtime. On his days off, he takes over most of baby duty to make up for not spending as much time with her.

Yes! DH is amazing with our newborn (6w tomorrow.) But when he is in his work week, he is scheduled for 12 hr days, plus commutes, plus overtime, etc. So I also do the night wakeups (which at this age is a lot) and it just gets overwhelming sometimes.

Yes. DH often has training/schools for long periods of time and is away during them. The most recent was a 3 week training. He'll be going to a school in a few months and will be gone for a few weeks for that. He was deployed last year during my pregnancy and for the first 4 months of DS's life.

Honestly, I don't know how full-time single parents do it, especially when they have to work on top of being the only caregiver.

sometimes... but DH always makes up for it on the weekends so it's totally worth it :)

He works 3 nights a week and they are usually 12-14 hour days. So I get up with DS and I put him to sleep. However DH is with us all weekend and mainly takes over DS's care so that I can get a much-needed break. I am SO thankful for this because it helps me survive the week knowing I will have me time for the weekend.

Yes!!!! I have felt like it more so this week than ever. DH has been working insane hours. 350 this past month, with a few 18 and 20 hour shifts thrown in there. I have two kids and I am so exhausted from constantly taking care of everyone nearly 24/7 it seems.

It would be SO nice to pass off one of them to DH when he walks through the door, but their already in bed by then.

I WILL be solo mama for a lot of the time I'm sure. DH works long hours most nights like yours. I often wonder how he'll even be able to see the baby awake. :/ Off to read that blog post!

My DH is a 2nd shift manager. He leaves at 2pm and usually gets home around 2am. Since all things happen after that time, homework, dinner, baths, crying, bedtime, etc. I often feel like a single parent. It blows. No better way to say it.

I don't know how you do it!

Dh is going out of town for work and ive ask my mom to spend the night. Its just a lot for me to take care of lo and our pup..... and I have this fear that ill wake up with a migraine and be all alone with a screaming baby and dog who has to pee and be fed and they wont care that I feel like I'm going to die. I just feel better if I have backup.

Yes! DH generally leaves for work just as LO is waking up and comes home after LO is already in bed.

But I'm sure being a single parent is even harder because you would probably need to work as well as be the sole caregiver.

My husband works very long hours, so often I am alone with the LO. For instance, this morning he left for work at 6:30 am and it's now 10:11 pm and he is still not home. Sometimes, I feel like a single parent. Anyone else's SO works crazy hours that you are often the sole caregiver for your LO?
