I was paranoid for DAYS that I would catch them. Look near the roots of your hair, and I believe they said they almost look like extra big roots. They hate high heat so if you use a blow dryer and flat iron you may be ok. This is why adults don't get them as often as kids. I hope you don't get them.</p> <p>For what it's worth, I have two sets of good friends whose kids got lice. They are neat freaks. The kids picked it up at a birthday party. It is totally gross, but it happens. Oh, and the process to kill the lice is terrible and time consuming. My mom just called me and told me that apparently my sister's stepdaughter has lice. Gross!</p> <p>First of all, I am irritated that she didn't have the decency to call and me and tell me. That is a separate issue though!</p> <p>I didn't have any direct contact with the little girl but I did sit on the furniture and spent several hours in the house. I haven't noticed any itching up until this point. I'm not sure how long it takes for symptoms to appear though? Ugh. </p>
