@bamblm: I pumped at about 8am, 1pm, 6pm, 10pm, then during the night at 3am roughly. Sometimes I would sleep through the night and add an extra pump in somewhere. I had a baby in the NICU, so I could pump whenever I wanted.

I loved when I got down to 4 pumping sessions a day. It was so freeing.

4-5. I liked 5 but when my work didn't like me pumping twice there, I had to work with 4 and it was fine once I got in the routine.

@bamblm: when I started EP at 6 weeks I pumped every 3 hours for 20 mins. As I saw my supply increase I started spacing out the feedings to more like every 4 hours. I always did it right when I woke up and right before bed and pumped in the middle of the night after night feed until about 4 months.

@bamblm: eventually I got to where I was pumping first thing in the morning around 630, right before bed at about 9, and then two other times throughout the day. I tried to space them out equally the best I could but I didn't stick to a schedule. I tried to pump when lo was sleeping when I could so I had t be flexible. As far as the in between when dropting pumps, I did the same thing just more frequently...first thing in the am, right before bed, and then spaced the others out. The first one I dropped was the middle of the night.

@Mrs. Lion: @wonderstruck: @Anagram: @winniebee: @Mrs.ThinMint: Just out of curiosity what was the timing of your pumps (i.e. time of day and for how long)? My LO is 8.5 weeks and I pump 7-8 times a day for about 20 mins right now (with each feed) for a total of about 30-35 oz daily. I want to start dropping pumps and this means I will be pumping off a different schedule than her feeding and am not sure how to do that (and maximize sleep lol)

I got about 35-40 oz with 5 pumps per day. My LO was in the NICU and it took him awhile to start eating much, so I have a huge freezer stash. Then at 10 weeks he got diagnosed with possible galactosemia and he had to switch to soy formula. So, my gallons of milk are just sitting there. I plan to donate once we get the official diagnosis.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "maintain" but I produced the most at 5-6 pumps a day...around 40-45 oz. When I dropped to 4 pumps a day I also got a sinus infection and a stomach bug in quick succession and my supply dropped and never really recovered. At that point I was producing about 24-28 oz a day which slowly petered off until I stopped at 13 moths pp.

My supply was very established by the time I starting EPing, but I could get away with most days 3 pumps and adding a 4th session if I didn't get enough that day.

I was too scared to pump less and stuck to pumping every 3-4 hours (once or twice in the middle of the night as well) until I weaned at a year.

4 was my magic number and I did that for a long time. I eventually dropped to 3x a day and just supplemented with a little more formula. That was really manageable!

I'm very curious too! My LO is only 5 weeks old and right now the magic number seems to be 6, but I'd love for it to go down to 4!

Nothing? :) The pump could never help me with my supply. Once i got sick and lost some milk, I could never get it back.

For me, once my supply was established a couple months in I was able to pump 4 times per day without compromising my supply, but if I dropped to 3 it would start to decrease. If I pumped more, I just got less each time but my output remained the same. I am curious what worked for other EPers out there! :)
